About us

This is a general activity group. We will dine out, hike, do casual walks, sing karaoke, do Happy Hours, attend concerts and street fairs, explore cultural activities, attend movies and plays, do occasional road trips and do anything else our members suggest. MANY ACTIVITIES WILL BE LIMITED TO THOSE WHO HAVE RECEIVED COVID-19 VACCINES.

Massapequa Preserve Hike (LIRR ACCESSIBLE)

This will be a hike from the trailhead near the Massapequa LIRR train station. We will meet in the parking lot at GPS coordinates 40.6775647726178, -73.46790424020504. The trail is generally flat with many protruding tree roots to demand your attention. Vigilance is required. Hikers should wear appropriate footwear and bring food and drink as needed.

Check within an hour before the event for cancellations due to weather.

We will meet in the parking lot along the north side of the train tracks that is on the east side of Parkside Blvd. There is parking along Parkside Blvd.

This is an event organized for our friends to get together and socialize. We are not professional hikers or professional organizers. You are welcome to join us but before you attend you must familiarize yourself with the risks associated with this type of activity.

You agree not to hold the Organizer, Co-Organizer, Assistant Organizers, Event Organizer, Event Hosts, Hike Leader or any other members responsible for any injuries, mishaps, or any other situation that may happen at a planned event. Lets kick the summer off with a beach party! We'll be behind the Sunset Club, on Hempstead Harbor with Long Island Sound in sight. We always get a large crowd at this venue, be sure to join us.

Food and drink are available at the Sunset Club, but there is a long wait for tables and takeout. Here is the Sunset Club menu. You can bring your own or order from local shops. Alcohol is probably not allowed, so be discreet if you have any in your cooler. Bring a chair, food for yourself and goodies to share.

We'll be on the beach, behind the Sunset Club, near the water. Look for the fish flag (see the picture).
Free parking after 5:30, but because of the fire works across the harbor, it will be crowded - don't come late!
