Trial by Trail Part 3: On the Trail Again!
Breakheart Reservation, 177 Forest St., Saugus, MA, USATTENTION HIKERS: The "Are We There Yet?" Express is Departing!
We are hitting Breakheart Reservation to tackle the 4.1-mile Ridge and River Loop!
We will be hiking this bad boy counter-clockwise, which is fancy hiker-speak for: "We are climbing UP the steep, terrifying rock scrambles instead of sliding down them on our butts."The Game Plan:
The First Half: We pretend we are rugged mountain goats, scale Castle Rock, sweat a lot, and take group photos where we pretend we aren't completely out of breath. Boston skyline views included!
The Second Half: A flat, peaceful stroll along the Saugus River where we can actually hold a conversation without gasping for air.
The Grand Finale: A 5-minute drive down the road to the legendary Kowloon Restaurant for an avalanche of Saugus wings, pu-pu platters, and well-deserved drinks! 🍹🥢
Logistics & Meetup Info:
Where: Saugus Entrance (177 Forest Street, Saugus, MA). Meet at Breakheart Reservation lower parking lot.
Weather: We go rain or shine—unless it’s pouring out! 🌧️
What to bring: Shoes with actual grip (leave the smooth-sole sneakers at home unless you want to slide back to Saugus), water, and a positive attitude toward gravity!Liability Waiver: As a condition of your voluntary participation in this activity you acknowledge and agree to the following: this activity involves inherent risks that can cause property damage, injury, illness, disability, and/or death to participants and/or others; you assume all risk associated with this activity; you are responsible for having the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities, clothing, and equipment to safely participate in this activity; you know and will follow the Hiker Responsibility Code described at www.hikesafe.com.
