What we’re about
Welcome! We’re the 20s/30s+ Committee of the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) Western MA Chapter — a fun, friendly group for people in their 20s & 30s who love the outdoors and want to explore Western Mass and New England with others.
Whether you’re new to hiking, just moved to the area, or have years of outdoor experience, you’ll find a welcoming community here. We organize group hikes, paddles, ski trips, campouts, social gatherings, trail work days, and more — all with a focus on community, inclusivity, and shared adventure.
You don’t need to be an AMC member to join our Meetup group or come to events (though we love it when you become one!). Most of our activities are free or low-cost and are led by trained volunteers who are excited to share their passion for the outdoors.
Join us to explore new trails, meet like-minded folks, and build lasting connections — both on and off the trail.

Description: Start the new year on the trail with AMC Western MA 20s/30s! Join us on Saturday, January 3 for a winter hike at Mount Sugarloaf in Deerfield, featuring classic local views and a festive way to kick off 2026 outdoors.
We’ll begin at the main parking lot on Sugarloaf Street and head north along the powerline trail to North Sugarloaf. From there, we’ll return south and climb to South Sugarloaf, where we’ll pause to take in expansive winter views across the Connecticut River Valley. We’ll finish by walking the road back down to our cars.
This hike will be approximately 3.5 miles with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain, offering a moderate challenge with rewarding views along the way.
Expect winter conditions. Traction may be required depending on snow and ice, and is available to borrow.

Description: Come join other folks' in their 20s/30s at the Powder Hollow Brewery at the Yankee Candle Village in South Deerfield, MA! This is primarily a social gathering for people to chat, relax, eat some great food, have some drinks, and meet other folks with similar interests! We will also have opportunities to set intentions for the new year and have some reflection/crafting time if that's something you're interested in!
Powder Hollow is co-located with Hillside Pizza, which offers 10" personal pizzas (with vegan options), wraps, soup & sides.

Description: Join AMC Western MA 20s/30s for a weekly night of skiing and snowboarding at Berkshire East Mountain Resort in Charlemont! We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings throughout January and February for some midweek turns under the lights.
This informal, social meetup welcomes skiers and riders of all abilities — whether you’re making your first runs of the season, getting in some midweek laps, or just enjoying the classic New England ski hill atmosphere with good company.
While this is not an instructional trip, participants of all experience levels are encouraged to join. You should be comfortable getting around the mountain independently, and we’ll often form smaller groups based on ability and pace. Beginners are absolutely welcome — friendly advice and encouragement are always part of the mix! If you’d like more formal instruction, lessons are available directly through Berkshire East.
Participants are responsible for purchasing their own lift tickets or season passes. Rentals are available on-site. Please check the Berkshire East website for current prices, hours, and snow conditions.
Whether you come every week or just once in a while, we hope you’ll join us for a fun, relaxed evening on the slopes this winter!
