About us
Welcome! We’re the 20s/30s Committee of the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) Western MA Chapter — a fun, friendly group for people in their 20s & 30s who love the outdoors and want to explore Western Mass and New England with others.
Whether you’re new to hiking, just moved to the area, or have years of outdoor experience, you’ll find a welcoming community here. We organize group hikes, paddles, ski trips, campouts, social gatherings, trail work days, and more — all with a focus on community, inclusivity, and shared adventure.
You don’t need to be an AMC member to join our Meetup group or come to events (though we love it when you become one!). Most of our activities are free or low-cost and are led by trained volunteers who are excited to share their passion for the outdoors.
Join us to explore new trails, meet like-minded folks, and build lasting connections — both on and off the trail.

(20s/30s) Camping Weekend @ Noble View
Location not specified yetActivity Type: Social | Local Socials
Difficulty: 2 - Relaxed
Trip Leader(s): Hew Hart, Chelsea Taylor
Registration Type: Application
Please Click Here to RSVP: https://activities.outdoors.org/a5UVX0000016mqz
Audience: 20’s & 30’sDescription: Join other folks in their 20s/30s for a casual camping weekend at Noble View Outdoor Center in Russell, MA — an AMC property tucked into the hills of the Westfield River watershed with a big trail network, shaded tent sites and platforms, open fields, and fire rings.
The weekend is unstructured: hike the trails, head out to the nearby climbing areas, play yard games in the field, lounge at camp, or some combination of all of the above. We'll come together Saturday evening for a shared meal/group cookout around the fire. We have the full site to ourselves — it'll be an all 20s/30s crowd.
The site has a bathhouse with showers and restrooms, so you won't be roughing it too hard.
What to Bring: You'll need to be self-sufficient for camping and most meals — bring your own tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and food. Saturday dinner will be the group cookout.
Cost: Sliding scale of $20-60/person, with a suggested cost of $40. Cancellations received by July 15 are eligible for a full refund. After that date, refunds are only possible if your spot is filled by another participant.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome; please let the leader(s) know if you intend to bring your pup!
Because space is limited, priority will be given to Western MA members and regular attendees of Western MA activities.
Additional details, including payment instructions, will be sent via email to confirmed participants.Reminder: Please click the RSVP link above to register!

(20s/30s) Tour de Ponds Backpacking Trip

Difficulty: 4 - Moderate
Trip Leader(s): Ethan Guertin, Hew Hart
Registration Type: Application
Please Click Here to RSVP: https://activities.outdoors.org/a5UVX000001E1zl
Audience: 20’s & 30’sDescription: Join AMC Western MA 20s/30s for a late summer backpacking trip in the Green Mountain National Forest! Over two days, we’ll hike around 15 miles over some rolling hills, "tour" some secluded ponds, and climb up Stratton Mountain, where we will find views of the valley below.
This is a self-supported backpacking trip designed for hikers with prior independent experience. We are capping the group size for this hike at 5 hikers and 2 leaders. Participants should be confident in carrying all necessary gear, managing their own shelter, food, and water treatment, and hiking sustained mileage over two days. Expect spring trail conditions, including mud, bugs, and cool overnight temperatures.
We’ll coordinate gear checks, car shuttles, and group communication with confirmed participants prior to the trip.
