About us
This is a meeting spot for people interested in chess, we don't have any expectations for member's skill level.
We mostly play blitz, games without time control, or sometimes even bughouse*. There's usually no need to bring your own chess set, we have enough.
Come join us for a few games, friendly chat and some fun!

Beat Me at Chess, Change My Route to Oslo - Amsterdam Challenge
Cafe de laurierboom, Laurierstraat 76, 1016 PN Amsterdam, Amsterdam, NLI’m cycling roughly 2,800 km from Amsterdam to Oslo with a chessboard. If you beat me, you get to alter my route.
I’ll be at Café de Laurierboom from 17:30 on Wednesday 16 September playing challengers before the evening Bar Blitz tournament.
Come for one game, several games, or just hang out. I’m around 1000 Elo, so your chances of sending me somewhere inconvenient are pretty good.
At 20:00 the regular Bar Blitz tournament starts, and I’ll be sticking around for that too.

Beat Me at Chess, Change My Route to Oslo - Social Ride + Chess
Concourse Zuid, karperstraat 19B, Amsterdam, NLI'm cycling roughly 2,800 km from Amsterdam to Oslo with a chessboard.
Along the way, people can challenge me to a game. If they beat me, they get to alter my route.
On Saturday 19 September, Sunday Cycling Club is hosting the Amsterdam send-off: a social ride, chess, and a chance to join the beginning of the trip.
You don’t need to be a cyclist and you definitely don’t need to be a strong chess player. I’m around 1000 Elo, so this is a fairly realistic opportunity to send me somewhere you decide.
We’ll meet at Concourse, play some chess, hang out, and then whoever wants can join a ~45 km social ride around Amsterdam. Route coming soon.
Come play, come ride or just come say hi before I head north!
If you’re wondering why I’m doing this, how the route-changing mechanic works or what the whole project is about, you can read more here:
And if you’re on Strava, you can RSVP there as well: link to the event
