The party is able to finish off the bugbear and the yeth hound. Healing up a little, they explore the study where Nualia was found and gathered her notes and journals. Heading back into the hallway where the combat primarily took place, it is discovered that what initially appeared to be a large column of gold coins had a small slot where one could deposit a coin. After a gold coin was put in, the column lowered and three more rooms were found. In the first, an image of a stern faced robed man addressed someone, telling them to remain and their sacrifice would not be in vain, before it cut off and started over again. Another room had the skeleton of a deformed humanoid that had the skeleton of another body coming out the back like a conjoined twin. A strange seven pointed star attached to a handle was also found. This turned out to be the key to the last room, in which a barghest was waiting invisibly for whoever was foolish enough to walk in. Combat was intense, but thanks to some well placed magic missiles, along with the contributions of the frontliners too, I guess, the creature went down.
