About us
Welcome to Auckland AWS Tools and Programming meetup group!
We're a group of developers, programmers, and other tech professionals passionate about AWS technology. We want to enable the opportunity for our community to come together to learn, discuss and share knowledge about AWS tools and best practices.
This meetup would include presentations and demos of tools, frameworks and services within the AWS ecosystem, and its focus would be on practical, hands-on learning and knowledge-sharing. The sessions will be interactive, where attendees can participate, share their experiences and collaborate on solutions if they like.
Our thoughts are to cover a wide range of topics, including, but not limited to, infrastructure within AWS, security, migrations, data, serverless, and more.
We are always looking for new speakers and topics, so if you are interested in presenting or have a suggestion, please let us know!

AI Innovation Showcase
PwC Tower, 15 Customs Street West, Auckland CBD, Auckland 1010, Auckland, NZKia ora dear members!
The Auckland AWS Tools and Programming user group invites you to a special October meetup spotlighting the next generation of cloud and AI innovation from the University of Auckland.
This month, we are turning the spotlight onto real-world, high-impact generative AI and intelligent agents built in collaboration with AWS mentors. Join us for an exclusive live demonstration and technical breakdown from Team S4Y as they present their capstone project:
HIMA - "Say it once. Your farm runs.”
Farmers spend their days out in the paddock, but logging data, updating plans, and managing compliance usually happens hours later across fragmented, isolated systems. Built specifically for New Zealand dairy farms, HIMA bridges this gap using an offline-first, voice-driven AI assistant.
What HIMA does:
- Zero-Signal Voice Capture: Farmers can speak a single sentence directly in the field—even with no mobile signal—and HIMA turns it into structured farm records the moment connectivity is restored.
- Automated Compliance & Planning: Transforms raw operational inputs into drafted daily schedules and regulatory compliance paperwork automatically.
- Multi-Source Data Unification: Integrates eight critical farm data streams—including livestock metrics, environmental conditions, and task tracking—combined with NZ-specific farming rules and domain expertise.
- Agentic Workflows with Human-in-the-Loop: Powered by Amazon Bedrock and AgentCore, HIMA safely coordinates complex operational actions while keeping the farmer firmly in control of every final decision.
### Why Attend?
- Live Technical Demos: See firsthand how students applied cutting-edge foundational models, multi-agent frameworks, and cloud architecture to solve practical challenges in New Zealand's primary sector.
- AWS Architectural Insights: Learn about the practical implementation details of orchestrating agents with Amazon Bedrock and AgentCore.
- Community & Networking: Connect with local cloud engineers, developers, student innovators, and AWS mentors over discussions shaping the future of Aotearoa's tech ecosystem.
We look forward to seeing you there! RSVP to secure your spot.
