About us
AWS Student Builder Group at Shri Bhagubhai Mafatlal Polytechnic and College of Engineering is a student-led, student-driven user group focused on learning about the Cloud via AWS technologies. The goal of this club is to teach students about the AWS Cloud and its various use cases, including those related to security, AI, business analytics, business transformation, etc. We will teach students about the benefits of the cloud and how it accelerates business. Furthermore, this AWS Student Builder Group at Shri Bhagubhai Mafatlal Polytechnic and College of Engineering will give students hands-on experience through projects in the AWS cloud, allowing students to develop both technical and business expertise in the cloud. This club will provide students with industry skills currently in high demand.

Behind the Apps: How Cloud Powers Everything You Use
How does a tap in an app turn into a response on your screen? What happens behind the scenes when you stream a video, make a UPI payment, or open a college website?Join us for a seminar on cloud computing and AWS, led by Abhishek Maurya, Senior Cloud Engineer at Orange Business India and an AWS Community Builder. With more than eight years of experience in the tech industry, Abhishek has worked across cloud and platform engineering and has helped students and professionals begin their cloud journeys.
The session will make cloud concepts approachable and connect them to the systems and apps we use every day. We’ll explore how cloud services fit together, how teams build applications that can scale, and how students can start developing practical cloud skills.
What we’ll cover:
• Cloud computing fundamentals: what cloud computing is, how pay-as-you-go services work, and the differences between IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
• The AWS toolkit: an introduction to compute, storage and databases, networking, security, AI and machine learning, analytics, developer tools, serverless, and containers.
• Core AWS services: what IAM, EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, Lambda, and CloudWatch do, and how services such as Route 53 and load balancers help an application work.
• How applications are built and scaled: the roles of users, networks, compute, databases, storage, and monitoring—and how architectures can grow from a simple first version to serve many users.
• Real-world cloud scenarios: examples involving a campus app facing a sudden traffic spike, streaming at global scale, and monitoring systems for fraud or other issues.
• Reliable, secure, and efficient architecture: an introduction to the AWS Well-Architected Framework’s six pillars—operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, cost optimization, and sustainability.
• A first hands-on project: the steps involved in deploying a static website with Amazon S3, plus pointers to AWS Free Tier resources and practice.
• Learning and career pathways: AWS certification options, practical preparation advice, building a portfolio, communicating project impact with the STAR framework, and student resources such as AWS credits and the GitHub Student Developer Pack. This seminar is suitable for students who are curious about cloud computing, whether you’re just getting started or looking for direction on what to learn and build next. You’ll leave with a clearer picture of how cloud powers everyday applications and some concrete ideas for your next steps.
