About us
Hi everyone! đź‘‹ Welcome! I'm so glad you're here.
My mission is to create a cozy, welcoming space for introverted women in their 30s and 40s to connect over a shared love of reading, without feeling overwhelmed or "on" all the time. Reminder, it's okay if you haven't finished or haven't even started the book. All are welcome; this is a no-pressure environment.
Format:
- Meet Once a Month:
- Each month, we’ll rotate: one month fiction, the next nonfiction.
- Group Size:
- Each event will be limited to 6 participants, including the organizer.
- Smaller groups = easier conversations and less overwhelm.
- Format:
- Meetups will last about 1-1.5 hours.
- We'll meet at cozy spots (wine bar/cafe/restaurant) located in downtown SF or the East Bay.
- No formal presentations — just casual discussion.
- It’s 100% okay just to listen if you’re feeling quieter that day.
- Book Selection:
- A mix of popular, literary, cozy, and thought-provoking titles.
- Selections are announced at least 2 months in advance to give time for reading.
- General Vibe:
- Calm, welcoming, non-judgmental.
- No icebreakers, forced games, or putting people on the spot.
- It's okay if you don’t finish or even start the book—all are welcome!
I'm open to all feedback, so please don't hesitate to comment or reach out.
Looking forward to meeting you soon—in the calm, introvert-friendly way we all appreciate. 🖤 Courtney

NON-FICTION: Bread of Angels, by Patti Smith
Burma Love, 8 Mint Plaza, San Francisco, CA, USFor our June pick, I've chosen Bread of Angels, by Patti Smith. I'll admit that I'm sort of cheating here because I haven't read her previous books (Just Kids and M Train). But this one came highly recommended, so I'm excited to dive in headfirst.
https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/230422843-bread-of-angels"But surprises don’t feel crucial to a work that builds its world as much through narrative voice as its description of events. That voice can take some getting used to. Oddly formal, even archaic, in tone, at times unrestrained if not undisciplined, Smith’s literary mind is a wild mare. It can occasionally feel repetitive or self‑indulgent. But once you settle in, it casts a potent spell, and you’ll learn as much about the artist from her style as from the stories themselves." - The Guardian
