This is a variation on a familiar route. It's a mainly flat walk 5.8 mile walk through fields and woodland which shouldn't take much more than 2.5 hours.
We meet at the Wigginton village cafe and shop before heading south through fields and woodlands towards Cholesbury Fort. The area is criss-crossed with footpaths and bridleways and additional routes for riders have recently been created. It is rich in wildlife, birds and butterflies. The beechwoods, bluebells and orchids all add to the great diversity of life to be found here.
After a short walk around the moat, we turn westward to walk through woods to High Scrubs. We then follow Grim's Ditch back to Wigginton.

Once we return to Wigginton, there is the option to take refreshments in the village shop where there is seating next to the field or the Greyhound pub next door. The address for the village shop is The Sports Ground, Wigginton HP23 6HH. If the car park is full, there is parking available along the road.

Please note that this walk is not led by a qualified leader and, as such, isn't covered by insurance. Be sure to wear suitable boots and clothing. The organiser cannot be held responsible for any injuries, however caused. Members are expected to take responsibility for their own preparation and safety including adequate fluids, weather protection and a snack. Please be sure to make me aware if you have any medical conditions.

Dogs are welcome as always but please be mindful to keep them on leads for roads and around other animals.

This walk will be led by Malcolm it’s a short 4.5 mile walk which will take under 2 hours. We begin in the picturesque village of Aldbury and set off up into Ashridge & walk through the woods for a couple of miles. We then gradually descend across fields making our way back to Aldbury where we can enjoy a warm welcome in The Greyhound.

There is some parking in front of the pub but there is much more space along Trooper Road which is opposite Stocks Road. The full address for the pub is Greyhound Inn, Stocks Rd, Aldbury, Tring HP23 5RT.

This 6 miles circular walk takes as from the park, past Halton Airfield, over the Wendover canal & on to the woods. We take a steady climb up to the visitor centre where we can stop for a short coffee/loo break. It’s then a long descent through the woods back down to the canal & back to the cafe.

The cafe has undergone a major refurbishment and has a decent choice of food and drinks with ample seating room. There is ample free parking space and toilets are also available.
