About us
Established in 1999, the Rockville Bicycle Advisory Committee (RBAC) is a group of volunteers of all bicycling levels. As a committee, we make recommendations to the City of Rockville Mayor and City Council and staff on bicycling issues from policies to implementation to infrastructure to improving conditions for biking in the City.
As part of these goals RBAC volunteers lead group rides to showcase the infrastructure, connectivity and other cycling features such as parking, signage and bikeshare stations. Our rides are designed to show cyclists how navigate our City streets and how Rockville earned a bronze level for being a League of American Bicyclists (LAB) Bicycle-Friendly Community. With these community bike rides, we hope you discover the bikeable routes in and round the City and join us to help promote safe cycling in Rockville.

One pitstop is at Town Center on Maryland Ave

Just FYI: Trek Rockville Spring Classic Ride
Dr. Dillingham Park, 19701 Wootton Ave, Poolesville, MD, USThis is NOT an official Bike Rockville with RBAC ride but a joint effort with our local Trek shop.
Join the Trek Rockville store for a spring group ride in Poolesville and explore the Montgomery County Agricultural Reserve.
You must be able to ride an average of 10 mph for 20-30 miles on moderate terrain. We will make an effort to stick together and regroup, but there is no sweep. Ride leader average pace is around 11.5 mph.

18th annual Rockville Ride of Silence
Rockville Memorial Library, 21 Maryland Ave, Rockville, MD, USPlease join RBAC for our annual Ride of Silence starting in the plaza in front of the Rockville Public Library.
Please plan to gather by 6:40 for the dedication and briefing. We will promptly roll out at 7 pm.
This is a police-escorted ride in memorial of cyclists killed or injured while riding. You must have a helmet and be able to ride at a 10-mph pace. We will be riding a 9-mile route thru neighborhoods streets and on I-355/Rockville Pike. Front and rear lights are also strongly recommended.
The Ride of Silence takes place on public streets and in mixed traffic. This ride is only recommended for bicycle riders who can maintain at least a 10-mph pace and can comfortably ride on the street along side motor vehicles. Since there will be a police escort, we will not be able to wait for riders who have fallen behind. Riders not able to maintain the pace will likely have to complete the route separately on your own. This ride is not recommended for families or children who are not experienced riding on public streets.
Please pump up your tires, check your brakes, lube your chain, and take your bike for a test spin before you arrive.

Rockville Memorial Day Parade
Welsh Park, 344 Martins Ln, Rockville, MD, USDo you want to be in a Parade? Now is your chance!!
This is not a bike ride but a volunteer opportunity.The Rockville Bike Advisory Committee (RBAC) will be marching in the City's Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade! Come join us and share the biking spirit!
We need adult volunteers to carry the banner. Children and adults can bring their own bikes to march along. We CANNOT ride our bikes in the parade. We will be walking with them.

https://www.rockvillemd.gov/2402/Memorial-Day-Ceremony-and-ParadeOn Monday, May 25 we will be meeting at Welsh Park (344 Martins Lane) at 9:30 am and walking over to the formation at the Skate Park driveway no later than 10 AM. RBAC is is position #51.
Martins Lane will be closed to cars but marchers can enter at Mannakee Street. The parade procession starts at 10:30 am.
This year's parade theme is "The Magic of America". Feel free to decorate your bike with red, white and blue and a little sparkle.
Parade judges will be located throughout the parade route. Our group will be judged on a variety of items including, but not limited to: formation/alignment, appearance/costumes, overall performance, props/equipment, originality and sound.
It will be a great showing of biking in Rockville!
