Black Experiences Philadelphia (BEP)

We're going to do some exploring while we hike 3 miles! We'll start at the Paper Trail Bike Cafe and follow the Orange trail, then loop back around to the Paper Trail Cafe.

There are some parking spaces near the cafe or on Lincoln Drive, but they are limited. There's usually parking near the Sunoco station at Wissahickon & W. Rittenhouse St. Give yourself an extra 15 minutes to secure parking.

8:45 a.m. - Meet and Greet at the Paper Trail Cafe parking lot. Again, this is a popular location, so give yourself 15 minutes to find parking and walk to the meetup location!
9:00 a.m. - WE ARE LEAVING! Not kidding, don't miss us!
10:30 a.m. - End of hike

We're going to take a different route along the ORANGE TRAIL, approximately 3 miles round-trip. THIS HIKE WILL HAVE HILLY WITH ROCKY SECTIONS.
THIS EVENT MAY BE CANCELLED SHOULD THERE BE THUNDER AND LIGHTNING.
Your dog is welcome to join us, but please keep them leashed the entire time to respect those who are uncomfortable around dogs.

A Fun Challenge
If you're looking for a fun challenge, this is it! Nature will be all over you by the time we're done. The leaves will be turning and it should be beautiful.
This is a great opportunity to meet and get to know other members.

WARNING: Our hike is not a flat-terrain walk like the path along Kelly Drive; this is a moderate hike for hills and distance. The trails are hilly wooded areas, so I wouldn't recommend this for someone with a recent surgery or serious joint problems. There is a road that remains flat and runs for several miles alongside the creek for those who would rather keep it simple, but our group will be hiking the trails. We will take a couple of breaks, but this is not just a leisurely stroll; be prepared to maintain a decent pace.

Wear sturdy hiking boots, trail runners, or regular sneakers with good traction. I don't want to leave a fallen warrior behind, but I will! I'm kidding.......

Also suggested are a bottle of water and a bite to eat, such as a granola bar, fruit, or trail mix. Bug spray, sunscreen, and a hat/scarf are also helpful but not usually necessary. You may just need a jacket, but be sure to layer, so you can shed clothing as you warm up. Bring your EpiPen or inhaler too (better safe than sorry). FOR THOSE WITH BIG OR LONG HAIR: BRAID OR TIE YOUR HAIR DOWN...I've had an 8-legged hitchhiker once land on my hair and try to come home with me.
Leave the makeup and cologne at home because we are going to sweat. We might see a cute jogger, but I promise the chipmunks and deer will NOT be impressed.

This is a very popular area that is frequented by runners, people riding bikes, walking dogs, and occasionally riding horses. Just be aware of your surroundings.

The Lawn is having a jawn across the street from Two Locals at 37th and Filbert!

It is a metal trailer jawn, set up in a green area, with seating as bleachers or tables and benches. I cannot guarantee seating, so bring a chair just in case it is crowded.

Happy Hours are 5-7PM

The parking is great after work hours. There's a $5 parking lot and easy street parking, which is free after 8PM.

We can find a restaurant to eat afterward, or just eat at Two Locals.

If the weather is bad, I will reschedule to another day.
