Welcome!
Are you an enthusiast learning either English or Japanese?
Would you like to practise and know more about these languages**?
Then join us for the online sessions!
Each session will have four components, and you are welcome to participate in any of them:
- Word games in English, facilitated by a co-host (come prepared with pencil and paper).
- A discussion of Japanese linguistics led by a co-host.
- Optional presentations by participants
- General conversation
For the optional presentation you can, for example, read a story or tell us something about yourself, your city or your culture in the language you wish to practise.
Each (optional) presentation should be short, at about 3-5 minutes, and will be followed by questions and discussion.
Even if you do not wish to present anything, or play the word games, or chat, you are still welcome to listen in!
Requirements:
Kindly sign up here before attending.
Please turn on your video feed while participating, with your face clearly visible.
Restriction:
This international meetup will have some very young participants, so topics (books/movies/videos) must be rated "G".
That is, suitable for general audience. No discussion of violence, s*x, or use of inappropriate language.
Introductions and Updates:
Kindly show up early on the day of the event to introduce yourself
and update your participation if there are changes in your plans. Thank you.
**There will be at least one person fluent in English, and at least one person fluent in Japanese at each session.
If you are already fluent in English, we invite you to also join our regular online bookclub which is held once a month on Saturdays at 8pm (Singapore time).
