About us

The California Camera Club welcomes all levels of photographers: beginner to master. This bay area photo alliance is a diverse network of photographers - a supportive and creative community - encouraging thought-provoking imagery, through photo walks, workshops, photo festivals, fairs, exhibitions, seminars, symposiums, conferences, summits, photojournalism events, art gallery/museum visits, photo critiques, lectures, gear demos/loans/sales, and contests. One of America’s oldest camera clubs and one of the most historically influential, the California Camera Club was founded in San Francisco in 1890.

Ansel Adams was an early member of the California Camera Club. The club gave him opportunities to exhibit his work, learn from more experienced photographers, and become part of San Francisco's photographic community. The club played a significant role in his development before he became internationally famous.
