About us
An online group for exploring practical ways of changing how we feel, think and respond.
Most of us know that simply telling ourselves to relax, stop worrying or think positively is not terribly effective. So rather than just talking about change, this group is about trying things and noticing what actually happens.
We’ll explore ideas and practices drawn from yoga, meditation, hypnosis and cognitive behavioural approaches. Sessions may include breathing and relaxation exercises, gentle movement, body awareness, guided hypnosis, mantra and meditation, attention exercises, and simple ways of working with thoughts and habits.
The emphasis is practical and experimental. You don’t need any previous experience, particular beliefs, impressive flexibility, or an ability to sit cross-legged while looking serene.
Events are live and online, hosted in a small group by Ian, a trained hypnotherapist with a background in CBT and many years of yoga and meditation practice.
We use a private self-hosted Jitsi video room, so you can join from home using a normal web browser.
Groups are deliberately small so there is time to meet one another and take part rather than simply watch another person talking at a screen.
Our first three one-hour workshops will explore:
• settling the body through movement, awareness, breathing and light hypnosis
• focusing attention using mantra, repetition and Benson-style meditation
• metta bhavana, exploring kindness and goodwill towards ourselves and others
Each workshop stands on its own, so you can attend one or join the whole series.
These are educational and experiential group workshops, not individual therapy or medical treatment. Nothing requires you to disclose personal information, and you are always free to sit out an exercise or keep your camera off.
Initial workshops are free to attend and are for adults aged 18 and over.
The group is associated with Transcendence Hypnotherapy & CBT:
The aim here is to create useful, interesting small-group experiences rather than sales presentations.
Come along with curiosity. Try something. Notice what changes.

The Magick of Mantra
·OnlineOnlineA relaxed one-hour online introduction to mantra: what it is, how a simple repeated word or phrase can steady attention, and how to choose one that feels natural rather than contrived.
We’ll also look briefly at using a mala or beads as a practical aid to repetition, then spend some time quietly practising together before finishing with a period of silence and reflection.
No previous meditation experience is needed, and a mala is not essential, though you’re very welcome to bring one if you have one.

A Little Kindness: Practising Goodwill Toward Yourself and Others
·OnlineOnlineA gentle one-hour online workshop exploring a simple practice of bringing goodwill toward yourself and other people.
We’ll use quiet reflection, guided attention and a few simple phrases to practise kindness without forcing positivity or pretending difficult feelings are not there.
We’ll begin with ourselves, then gradually extend that goodwill toward someone we care about, someone fairly neutral, and perhaps someone we find a little more difficult.
There’s no religious teaching and nothing you need to believe. Just a practical hour to slow down, notice what happens, and experiment with a different way of relating to yourself and others.
No previous meditation experience is needed.
