Chilled Out Meetups is one of Leeds biggest groups organising social events for 18 to 38 year olds. Thinking about joining or have recently become a member? See essential information for new members by clicking this link.
Our events include an organised walk every other week (over summer), coffee and drinks socials, women-only events and one off visits to destinations in Leeds and sometimes further out. We also run 'one off' events from time to time, and hope to add more types of activities in future.
Are you in charge of a venue or other potential event destination? We'd love to hear from you about working together to put on a Meetup. In return for a space, we can offer a large group of new customers and potentially repeat business in the form of one our regular events. Feel free to send us a message.
ORGANISERS WANTED - Our group is co-owned equally by its organisers. Most decisions are made by organizers giving unanimous approval. If you're interested in running events let us know, no matter what type of event you want to do - remember as an organiser you decide the time, place and activity.
We are fully committed to everyone feeling safe and secure at events so there will be zero tolerance for any harassment, unwanted attention or any other disrespectful behavior. This is a space without any kind of prejudice including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia etc. and this includes 'jokes' and 'memes', please take it elsewhere. We may organise women-only events - if this is a problem then this isn't the right group for you.
You can make a donation to the group here.
If you treat others with kindness and use some common sense you should get along fine here, but if you'd like to check our rules and policies you can see them here.
Have questions about something not detailed in the new member guide or rules? You will probably find answers in our FAQ here.
Our financials are kept open for public viewing. You can see the ledger here.

New Members Walk: Elland Road
City Square, LS1 2ES, Leeds, GBAre you a new or returning member who enjoys walks or perhaps just want to meet the group in a quieter setting than a bar/pub? This is the event for you.
We're going on a walk through the South Bank area of the city centre then heading up through Cross Flatts Park where we'll stop for a break to enjoy the greenery (weather permitting). We'll reach the top of Beeston Hill, then walk back down the other side to the site of the famous Elland Road stadium. We'll finish up in the adjacent McDonalds where we can get snacks/drinks or otherwise take one of the frequent bus services from there back into Leeds.
All members are welcome to this event regardless of how many events you've been to, however you should be open to meeting new people if you want to attend. Most new members come by themselves so there's no need to worry, but you can add up to 5 guests to your RSVP if you'd like.
Start: City Square @ 13:00
Distance: 3 miles
Challenge: Relatively easy, walk is all on hard ground. There is a continual uphill section through Cross Flatts Park followed by a steep downhill section towards Elland Road.
Destination: Elland Road McDonalds (Hoxton Mount). Regular busses pass by here to get back into Leeds. Unfortunately the Park & Ride is not running on the day of the event.***
New Member FAQIs it OK to come alone or should I bring someone?
It's absolutely fine to come by yourself. This is the case 99% of the time for new members, so there's no need to worry, many other attendees will be in the same boat as you.
Will I fit in?
The only thing that's the consistent about our members is how different they all are! We welcome people from all over the world and from all walks of life. We have many members who are in the LGBT+ community or neurodiverse. As long as you're your kind, friendly self you'll fit right in.
Do I need join the group to attend?
Yes, you must apply to join the group, be approved and RSVP to this event first. Please note, it can sometimes take a few days for your application to be processed, so its best to apply early. If you're still waiting to hear back on the day of the event, apologies but you won't be able to attend this one. Please don't turn up to the event whilst your request is still pending, on Meetup this is considered very intrusive and could lead to a site wide ban, you should only attend if your name is in the Attendees list.
***
Still want more info about attending the group? I recommend reading our new members guide here. Remember, new members are allowed to come to any event, you just might prefer to come to this one first.
