New to DAWN?
If you are new to Dawn or new to meditation, please know you are truly welcome here. There are no expectations and no experience required only a willingness to arrive as you are. Our gatherings typically bring together 35–50 people, each on their own path, yet sharing in a sense of peace, connection, and community.
What should I bring?
We meditate in chairs outdoors, but later you may wish to sit or lay down on the grass, so a blanket is optional. We recommend a hat as we typically are in the sun. Sturdy shoes and a water bottle are also a good idea but there are places to ground yourself barefoot if you choose. We will be in nature in the mountains, and the weather can vary so consider, depending on the time of year, sunglasses, hats, sunscreen, blanket, gloves, coat, etc. To check the weather use Cleveland, SC as your most accurate forecast but understand that mountain weather can change quickly.
Snacks and water will be provided.
*Weather cancellations - If you have registered you will receive an email, and we will indicate the cancellation on our website.
Dawn continues to be a volunteer-supported space, and your presence, participation, and quiet generosity help sustain these gatherings and the care of the land we are blessed to share.4 attendees

Sound Bath by Kendall Harbour with Meditation in the Mountains -10:30am-12noon with Rev. Nancy NealYoga – 9:30am-10:15am led by Liz Meeker, RYT-200 (register separately)
Join us on October 4th, from 10:30am-12noon for Meditation in the Mountains at the DAWN property. Whether this is your first visit or a familiar return, these gatherings offer a chance to step away from the busyness of everyday life and reconnect with a deeper sense of peace and presence.
We’ll begin the morning with 30-50 of us gathered outdoors for a guided meditation led by Rev. Nancy Neal, Interfaith Minister at DAWN, offering a gentle invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and arrive fully in the present moment. As a special offering our meditation will include a deeply nourishing Sound Bath by Kendall Harbour a Sound journey Curator and Yoga RTT 200. After meditation, you’re invited to spend time on the land with a quiet walk, personal reflection, or simply resting in the peaceful surroundings. This unstructured time allows each person to connect with the space in their own way. When the drum is heard, we’ll gather once more to close our time together with reflection and blessing.
Liz Meeker, RYT-200, will offer gentle morning yoga from 9:30–10:15 for those who would like to arrive early and ease into the day with mindful movement and breath. Rooted in Wonder
A Free Children’s Nature Event at Dawn Retreat Center
Sunday, October 4th • 2:00–4:00pm • Ages 3–11
Give your children an afternoon of pure outdoor fun at Dawn: A Center for Stillness and Peace. Children will move through guided discovery stations around the property filled with nature-inspired creations, kid-friendly yoga, and playful learning about root systems, pollinators, trees, and more, making one-of-a-kind creations to take home along the way. In nature, children learn to slow down, be present, and hear that still small voice within.
This is a side-by-side experience. Parents and caregivers stay with their children the entire time, hands in the dirt and creativity flowing right alongside their little ones.
Facilitated by (with support from a team of dedicated volunteers):
Kristy Fairey, Sandhya Kalidindi, and Lorena Font — together bringing a lifetime of experience working with children, spanning Reggio-inspired and Montessori early childhood education, leading summer camps and horseback riding lessons, and RYT-200 certified yoga instruction focused on helping children discover self-awareness, compassion, and their connection to the natural world.
What to bring:- A bag to carry home your child’s finished artwork
- Snacks if you want something special. We provide simple snacks and water.
- This event is entirely outdoors, so children will be in the sun. Mountain weather can also change quickly, so pack for both warm and cool conditions, like a hat or sweater
- Water shoes and a towel, if you’d like to stick around afterward and let the children splash in the stream with you
- A blanket or something to sit on
Yoga mats will be provided, along with snacks and water throughout the event.
Inclement Weather
Mountain weather is unpredictable. In the event of cancellation due to weather, we’ll post updates on our website, social media, and via email.
