About us
Hi, welcome to Machida Local Drifters! 👋
I live right here in the Machida area and started this group because I was hoping to make some genuine friends locally. Life can get busy, and sometimes it's hard to find that casual circle to just hang out with.
Especially since so many meetups happen in the center of Tokyo or only on weekends, leaving us in the suburbs with fewer options to connect. I wanted to create a space for people living closer by where we don't have to commute an hour and an hour back just to say hello.
The Plan: We keep it super low-pressure and super casual. Whether you're a long-time resident or new to town, fun and good vibes are the focus.
Socialize: Grab coffee, take a walk through the neighborhood, enjoy a picnic in the park, or play some casual games together.
Exchange: Share a bit of your culture, practice a language (Japanese, English, or anything else!).
Connect: Make real friends without the awkwardness of a formal event.
No strict agendas, and absolutely no pressure to be "fluent" in anything. Honestly, I'm pretty bad at Japanese myself 🫣, so this is a place where we can learn, use body language and translators, stumble, and laugh together. If you need time to warm up, that's totally okay.
All events will be [FREE].
I'm not here to make money, I just want good company and having a good time 😁
While the events themselves are free, we might host them at places like restaurants, where attendees cover their own food and drinks.

Sagami Vibes is returning this year for Volume 3 of one of the best cultural festivals in Sagamihara!
What makes this free outdoor event so special? Well, I'm glad you asked!✨ What to expect:
🍔Food, food and MORE FOOD: Over 30 food and drink vendors from around the area serving burgers, tacos, ramen, sweets, craft beer, and MORE!
🚗Cool Cars: A massive exhibition of vintage American classic cars and custom motorcycles.
🛍️Shopping: 190+ vendors at the event selling vintage goods, streetwear, handmade crafts, and exotic plants—just to name a few.
😎Good Vibes: Enjoy live street performances, open-air DJs, local indie music, and live art from creators around the area.🎒 What to bring:
💴Cash: Some vendors accept PayPay or credit cards, but cash is king here to be safe!
👟Comfortable Shoes: Half of the event space is asphalt and the other half is grass. We will be standing and walking around a lot.
🌞Sun & Heat Protection: There is very little shade in the main areas, so bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
🛍️Extras: Hand wipes, tissues, reusable shopping bags, a small trash bag, and an umbrella just in case it rains.📍 Meeting Time & Location:
We will meet at JR Fuchinobe Station (South Exit) at 12:00 p.m.
From there, we can decide as a group if we want to walk 20–25 minutes together to Fuchinobe Park, or take the dedicated event shuttle bus (¥200 each way, runs every 15 minutes).🌤️ Weather & After-Party:
The event is held rain or shine, but in the event of severe stormy weather, it may be canceled. I will keep an eye on the forecast throughout the week, but you can also check their official Instagram (@sagami.vibes ) for real-time updates.
After the meetup, we can all decide if we want to do something else around the area and go from there! Our group events are free, but donations are always appreciated to keep our group going.
Let's enjoy some good vibes together! 🍔🏎️🎨
