Change Notice: We couldn't find a 10K Leader, therefore we will only have a 7K walk on Saturday, July 12th, 10:00am. However, that gives you an opportunity to visit the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum prior to the walk. Museum opens at 9:00. You can see most of the exhibits in an hour. They would let you return after the walk if you prefer some additional time.
What: Join the East Tennessee Wanderers for a 7K walk in the Ft. Loudoun State Historic Park & visit the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum in Vonore, TN. This is a picturesque walk along natural trails and lakeshore. Everyone is encouraged to visit the Museum collection following the walk to hear the history of the Cherokee Nation and Sequoyah from their perspective. Optional lunch at Cielito Lindo Restaurant (Mexican), Victory Bar & Grill or Pizzeria Venti following the walk.
When: Saturday, July 12th. We will start the 7K walk at 10:00am. Restrooms are available inside the Museum starting at 9:00am.
Where: We will meet at Sequoyah Birthplace Museum, 576 Tennessee 360, Vonore, TN.
Details: The 7K walk will be on natural paths. There are moderate elevation changes for the walk (200-400+ ft). Rated a 3C. Please try to arrive 15 minutes prior to your departure time to register.
We will have an optional lunch at Cielito Lindo Restaurant, 1265 Hwy 411, Vonore TN 37885, Victory Bar & Grill, 1255 Hwy 411 or Pizzeria Venti, 916 Hwy 411, Vonore.
Registration: This is a sanctioned walk and the cost is $3.00, cash, payable to the walk leader at the start of the walk to cover sanctioning and insurance costs.
Dogs are allowed on a leash for the walk, but there is no outdoor seating at the Mexican restaurant or Victory Bar & Grill. Outside picnic bench at Pizzeria Venti is available.
