Join us on Discord, Board Game Arena, and Board Game Geek! Meet other board gamers and play games of all kinds! Exercise your brain, have fun, meet new people, and share your love of gaming with other enthusiasts in the Essex County Gamers! Our events take place at board game cafés, public libraries, and hobby shops across Essex County, MA and beyond! Though our group plays a lot of board games, we welcome and encourage gaming of all kinds--cards, Backgammon, tabletop role playing games, Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, etc. We welcome new event hosts if you're interesting in running your own events--reach out to the Leadership Team to ask about hosting! We look forward to seeing you at the gaming table!

08/27 Weekly Heavy Gaming
The Castle, 140 Rantoul Street,, Beverly, MA, USIMPORTANT: RSVPing is only part of the process. You must also respond to the hosts' direct messages, join ECG's Discord server, and read all of the information below.
Because we play heavy games, which we define as games weighted 2.5 or higher on BoardGameGeek.com, we have a some rules to maximize everyone’s enjoyment. If this is your first time, read How Thursday Heavy Gaming Works and all messages from the hosts to help you understand how the group functions.
Here are the main things you need to know:
- RSVP on Meetup by 2 PM Sunday.
- At 2 PM Sunday, planning moves to Essex County Gamer’s Thursday-Heavy-Gaming Discord Channel. You must join the Discord server.
- Game pickers post games in the Thursday-Heavy-Gaming Discord Channel by 7 PM on Sunday.
- Seat selection starts on Monday at 7 PM SHARP in the Thursday-Heavy-Gaming Discord Channel.
- LEARN THE RULES OF YOUR GAME BEFORE THE EVENT.
- Arrive to The Castle no later than 6 PM.
Other Relevant Information
- The Castle charges a $6 gaming fee per visit. We encourage you to eat and drink at The Castle during the event!

- Join the Heavy Game Thursdays guild on BoardGameGeek.com to see other regulars' game collections. We often will bring games for each other if arranged beforehand!
- Please note that games vary in time length. Some games only last 2 hrs while others can be 4-5hrs.

September Beverly Library Game Day (Barnett Gallery)
Beverly Public Library, 32 Essex St, Beverly, MA, USNote: This month takes place in the Barnett Gallery and food and drinks, except for bottles of water, are not allowed in the Barnett Gallery. To find the Barnett Gallery, enter the library turn right down the ground floor hallway. The Barnett Gallery is at the end of the hallway.
These events are open to members of Essex County Gamers and walk-in members of the public. This event is generally suitable for those aged 10ish & up, and families with younger children are welcome to come game together (childcare is not provided). If arriving late, post your arrival time in a comment-the hosts will try to have a seat in a game ready for you.
Games are of varying difficulty are played with each featuring a teacher. This is the perfect event for new board gamers or members who have only played classic board games. Games can be anything from quick and easy-to-learn light games to multi-hour, brain-burner-strategy heavy games. The optional theme for this month is Learning is Fun. (no one is required to stick to the theme)
Food and beverages are NOT allowed in the Barnett Gallery with the exception of bottled water. There are lots of lunch options nearby on Cabot Street. The event ends promptly at 4:00 PM, when all games should start cleaning up, with a hard exit at 4:30 PM.

Dominion Night in Salem
11 Church St, Salem, MA, USThis event will feature my favorite game, Dominion. Please sign up if you would like to attend.
If you already know and love this game, I encourage you to attend. If you've never played and would like to try it (it's really fun and not hard to learn), please sign up and join us as well!

Snacks: UPDATE: No shared snacks. If you need food/beverages, then bring an individual snack/drink for yourself.
About the location
Please meet at the front door of The Essex condo (11 Church St, Salem - across from what some folks call "the Almy's parking lot" - you'll see the new blue awning) and then I will take everyone downstairs to the Essex Room.Those who arrive later will need to call me to get in. An organizer will send the contact info to you if you have signed up to attend for the first time.
