Film: 9 to 5 at the Washington Center

Tumble outta bed, stumble to the movies—because Friday, September 25 is officially "Dolly Day" at the Washington Center, and it is inviting the community to a FREE showing of 9 to 5.
Dolly Parton stars alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin in this 1980 classic shows what can happen when you push working women too far. If you haven't seen it (or haven't seen it since the Carter administration), it holds up: 9 to 5 has a 71% on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer (critics) and 74% on the Popcornmeter (audiences). Here's what the critics say:
"It might not be much of a way to make a living, but 9 to 5 is a wonderfully cast comedy that makes some sharp points about gender roles in the workplace."
Best part? This one's FREE—no tickets required, no box office scramble. It's being shown at the Washington Center Main Stage (512 Washington St. SE, Olympia) on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m., and it runs about 1 hour 50 minutes (rated PG).
A couple of notes:
Costumes are encouraged. Channel your inner Dolly—big wigs, short skirts, and gravity-defying curves—or just raid the closet for your best shoulder-padded, pencil-skirted 1980s office wear. I make no promises about my own wardrobe choices, but I may toss on a coat and tie for old times sake.
It's for a good cause, too. Bring a new or gently used children's book to donate—the South Sound Reading Foundation will be in the lobby collecting them in honor of Dolly's long-time love of literacy.
Since there's no assigned seating (and no tickets to fuss with), I'm planning to get there a little early, maybe around 6:30, to grab a good spot before the crowd. Let me know if you want to meet meet me outside around 6:20.
If there's an interest, we can always adjourn afterward for a drink—or a cup of coffee, if you really did tumble outta bed for this one.
