Free Events for New Adults

Cultural Cookbook Club invites participants to explore new flavors and traditions from around the world through food. Each month features a different cuisine, with participants preparing and sharing a homemade dish inspired by that culture. Participants are required to provide a list of ingredients with their dish. Sampling is optional, and the library is not responsible for monitoring or managing food allergies or sensitivities. This group meets the first Monday of the month.

This month we will be reading No Going Back by Patrick Flores-Scott

Told over the course of forty-eight hours, seventeen-year-old Tony heads back to his old life in Des Moines, Washington after being released from a youth detention center, but toxic old relationships and unforeseen challenges make staying on the straight-and-narrow nearly impossible.

Journalist Julie Masis will talk about her new book, "How My Grandfather Stole a Shoe and Survived the Holocaust in Ukraine."
The Haverhill-based author tells the story of her grandfather, a native of Moldova, who survived the Holocaust under Romanian occupation, and eventually immigrated to Massachusetts, where he lived to the age of 102.
