What we’re about
Welcome to the Fresh Start Photography group!
If you enjoy meeting with other photographers to discuss, learn and actively engage in honing your skills as a photographer, this is the group for you! Whether you are just starting out or have been photographing for years, there is always something new to learn and photograph. We offer formal presentations and/or critiques every 3rd Thursday of each month at the Salem Church Library from 6:00pm - 8:00pm, unless otherwise noted in our meetings. We also schedule regular meetups to practice photography in local and out of town settings such as gardens, events, parks and more. Come join us!

Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Wildlife Photography at Huntley Meadows Park3701 Lockheed Blvd, Alexandria, VA
We will meet at the Visitor's Center end of the parking lot. Look for my red Toyota Highlander with the Shenandoah National Park tags.
Huntley Meadows Park has some of the best wildlife viewing in the Washington metropolitan area. From the ½ mile wetland boardwalk trail and observation tower, you have an excellent view of beavers, muskrats, frogs, dragonflies and herons. Huntley Meadows is well known as a prime birding spot, with over 200 species identified in the park.
We will be starting 6:30 am, sunrise will be at 6:02 am. It's about a ten-minute walk to the half-mile long boardwalk through the marsh. The reason for the early start is to be there when wildlife is usually most active. We also want to avoid the majority of visitors who tend to show up after 10:00 AM
You will probably want to bring your longest lens, although at times you can get pretty close. A tripod or mono-pod are optional. With any kind of nature photography, you never know what you will find until you get there.
While there is a 10:00 AM end time for this meetup, you can stay as long as you like.
The visitor center and restrooms will be open at 9:00 AM.

Monthly Topic is:
The presentation will concentrate on specific functions of a multi-function camera/flash triggering device using sound, motion and flashes of light as the triggering stimulus. We will discuss the features of the device, how to set it up for use, and then delve into specific examples and resulting images. We will then discuss some of the other functions of the device as basic information. Finally, we'll talk about other similar triggering devices available on the market. There will be time for Q&A during and at the end of the presentation.
