Tour de Fat Costume Bike Parade
City Park, 1599 City Park Drive, Fort Collins, CO, USMEETING DETAILS:
PARADE RIDERS- meet at the Statue of Liberty at City Park at 9am (see pictures). We'll head towards the parade start at 9:30am- the NE corner of City Park - Jackson and Oak St. The blue square is where the mob of people will be convening. The red circle is where the Statue of Liberty is. The green line is where we recommend parking, if you get there early enough. Otherwise, make sure you're parked in a legit spot and not blocking a driveway.
SPECTATORS - Meet in the Western meridian of Washington and Mountain Ave at 9am (see picture). Bring a chair! Parking for you will be side streets wherever you can find it.
* These times are only recommended, and flexible. Know that this is the plan... and things might not go according to plan! Know that this will be fun chaos π« ! We will do our best to keep up to date in the chat for where the group is (see Messages in the Meetup app).
We will have neon boas and sunglasses for you if you want! And if you throw Ashley or Jonah a few bucks, we'd love that!
Can't wait to introduce you to the most fun holiday of Fort Collins! π»ππ©βπ€
Party on and be safe!--
UPDATE- Tour de Fat theme decided: NEON & SHINE! β¨πͺ©
Think neon, metallic, sequins, sparkle, bright colors β basically, if it's loud or shiny, it works. πGo as simple or ridiculous as you'd like!
We're also getting neon sunglasses and boas for our Fun Friends crew, so we'll have something that ties us all together and makes it easier to find each other in the Tour de Fat craziness. We're hitting the thrift stores tomorrow (Wed) to see what fabulous/terrible things we can find. Come join us if you need some inspiration!
COSTUME UPDATE:
There are so many Costume ideas I think it's best to do what you want! Have fun & get creative! Anything goes for Tour de Fat!Depending how much effort you want to put into your costume we'll offer offer 1 simple group thing to jump in on, for ease if you want that - like the funny hat/sunglasses combo. Let us know if you want to partake in that in the comments.
And if you want to get more into it, then decide what idea/ theme you want to do and put a comment for others to join in on that with you.
*If you're interested in someone's theme, try to reply to their comment rather than creating a whole new comment - hopefully this will prevent it from getting too messy! We'll likely schedule a thrift store meetup cuz that's part of the fun of it!
Tour de Fat is happening... The biggest & best holiday in Fort Collins. If you are new to town, have never participated or have no idea what this is, you should definitely come check it out!!!
It's a 5th Saturday of the month, so it won't interfere with hikes or Pickleball!
WHAT IT IS:
This event is put on by New Belgium Brewery. It is a bike parade x Halloween costumes on steroids, multiplied with tons of New Belgium beer, and fun! Drinking optional, costumes not! ;)WHAT TO DO:
-Come to spectate, or to participate in the bike parade (with a costume, and patience- it's a slow ride!) Costumes and creativity are what make this event so awesome and fun- to be part of, and to watch!
-Ride your bike (or skateboard, rollerblades, onewheel, unicycle?).
-The party starts as early as you want it toPeople often get incredibly creative, with bikes turning into intricate pirate ships and people behind it as pirates... It's a wild experience!
Watch this video to get a feel for it: https://youtu.be/4wla-458RuI?si=B8hUdErRJiGf1cDC
I am currently gathering ideas for a group costume theme- this will be a fun way to connect and find others who are part of the group!
We would LOVVVE for you to be part of the group theme we decide on, but it's still optional.
πGot a theme idea? Shoot Ashley a message! We want it to be unique (so we stand out as being a group), and easy to put together2 ways to participate:
1. Costume and ride in the bike parade
2. Costume and spectate.
3. Well 3 ways- no costume but you'll get looked at funny (π«΅ Ryan π)To be announced-
- We'll post up a spectator spot on Mountain Ave
- Group costume theme
- Probable meetup event a few weeks ahead of time to thrift shop for our costumes!WHERE TO GO:
The parade begins at City Park and goes up and down Mountain Ave 930am-1130am.AFTER THE PARADE (optional):
After the parade shenanigans, they have their free event at New Belgium's property: 500 Linden StThis begins at 11am and goes through the afternoon. It's free to attend this portion, but beer and food trucks will cost money. They have many bands and other fun entertainment as well. see their website for more about that.
