Welcome to the "Gaston Go-Getters!" We are in our 3rd year of exploring Gaston County and surrounding areas. We recently celebrated our 200th event! We are a welcoming group and accept members no matter their age or orientation. You are never too old to become a "Go-Getter!"
There are a couple of very simple requirements for both groups...and yes, they ARE requirements.
1. You must post a recognizable photo of yourself on your profile. Not your children, not your pets, not a photo of your tattoos! I need to recognize you when you walk in the door.
2. YOU MUST ANSWER THE REQUIRED QUESTION! It's simple but it lets me know that you are legitimate. Tell me a local place that you like to visit... or would like to visit.
3. I'm looking for an active group of folks who want to attend outings and support local businesses. Going forward, you will need to interact with our Meetup page at least once every six months. That does not mean that you must attend an event...you just have to visit our page and see what's going on.
3. If you RSVP, show up! If you must cancel, change your RSVP no later than 24 hours before the event. Three no-shows (or last minute changes) and you will be removed from the group. Emergencies happen and will be taken into consideration.
4. Lastly, and most importantly, tolerance and respect for everyone...especially "the least of these." We live in a relatively rural community with many residents who are not as educated as you or as financially wealthy as you. If you are disrespectful in any way, by words or action, I will remove you from the group.
You are not required, but you are encouraged, to purchase food or drink from establishments that we visit. Thank you for wanting to support "local!"
And then...there is the optional "opportunity" to financially support the "Go-Getters." If you are so inclined, please make a donation to help offset the fees associated with Meetup. Here is the link to my Venmo account: Melanie-Smith-762

"Kings Mountain” - Gastonia Architecture & History Appreciation Society
Kings Mountain Historical Museum, 100 East Mountain Street, Kings Mountain, NC, USThe "Gastonia Architecture & History Appreciation Society (GAAHAS)" has scheduled a field trip to Kings Mountain...and we are invited! The tour includes a private tour of the Kings Mountain Historical Museum. The tour will continue to the Nutty for Nutcrackers Museum and end with a visit to the Southern Arts Society which is housed inside the town's historic train depot. Our friend and local historian, Annie O'Leary Crites, will be leading this event. This will be a true walk through the history of Kings Mountain.
We will meet the others in the group at the Kings Mountain Historical Museum. I will put the address as our location. If anything changes, I will send messages to those who sign up.
The group will visit 3 locations...before and after lunch. We will choose a local restaurant for our lunch break. There are several great options in the downtown area.

No cap on attendance. Guests are welcome. We live in an area that is known for its Revolutionary War history, so we are in for a treat. Dress for the weather...and wear comfortable shoes!
