Gays Can Read in Aug: PALAVER
VIVARI Coffee & Bakery, Consell de Cent 280, Barcelona, ESBook club for LGBT+ English-speaking transplants in Barcelona.
In Aug. we’re reading: PALAVER, by Bryan Washington 📖
In his third novel, Washington explores family estrangement, queer identity, and imperfect communication. Sound familiar, homos? A mother and son awkwardly reunite in Tokyo after 12-years! The story is told non-linearly, so it might be a Chris Nolan movie someday. Pick up a copy at your favorite local Queer and/or English-language bookstore! We’ll meet 22 Aug at 11:00am, at VIVARI Coffee & Bakery (Consell de Cent 280) in L’Eixample to discuss the book, then share in our experiences as friends of Dorothy in a new land. 💅

Gays Can Read: Book Swap!
LaCarra BCN, Carrer d/ Muntaner 34, Barcelona, ESLove books? Like drinks? Get some of both!
Are you a physical-books-for-life kind of gay? Wanna pay forward a great book? If a fellow book-kinkster wing-manned a thick novel into your cocktail-slicked palms, mouthing at you from behind the dust jacket that it's a great lay, would you take it home and crack it open? Gay Nerds, let get together to do what we do best: share sheets and liquids!
Pick one or two fabulous books on your shelf that you're willing to part with, and bring them with you to LaCarra (C/d Muntaner 34) on Thurs 3 SEPT at 6:30pm for drinks and book swaps! Don't let great books sit solemnly on your shelf. Share them with someone, then get that hole refilled!

Wanna get direct updates? 💬 Join the GCR WhatsApp group! This is not an opportunity to dump out crappy self-help workbooks or misguided book purchases collecting dust. Bring books you think others will enjoy (i.e., the kind you'd take home after scrolling book-Grindr). Then we can all head home a little buzzed*, hand-in-hand with a hot book-up to take to bed!** Not bad for a Thursday night!
*Or sober!
**This is absolutely not a cruising event! Just fun w/ words b/c language1 attendee
Gays Can Read in Sept: THE SAFEKEEP
VIVARI Coffee & Bakery, Consell de Cent 280, Barcelona, ESBook club for LGBT+ English-speaking transplants in Barcelona. In September we’re reading: THE SAFEKEEP, by Yael Van Der Wouden
A debut novel that even stuffy old Brits call "a remarkable debut novel"!
Isabel is an introvert that loves her house! Then her punk-ass brother brings one of his hos into the house, and Isabel over it! ...Or is she? Oh yea, and the world is re-building following World War II. It's always something! We’ll meet 12 Sep at 11:00am, at VIVARI Coffee & Bakery (Consell de Cent 280) in L’Eixample to discuss the book, then share in our experiences as friends of Dorothy in a new land. 💅

Gays Can Read in Oct: TRUST
VIVARI Coffee & Bakery, Consell de Cent 280, Barcelona, ESBook club for LGBT+ English-speaking transplants in Barcelona. In October we’re reading: TRUST, by Hernan Diaz
This technically isn't LGBT-themed, but we are more than our gayness! Also, this is the book that brought Dua Lipa and Callum Turner together. As Gays Who Can Read, let us pay tribute to the Patron Diva of Book Nerds by reading the Pulitzer Prize winning "metafiction" about capitalism that got her James Bond Jr., and got us Dua in Schiaparelli and Chanel! #gayrightsWe’ll meet Sat, 10 OCT at 11:00am, at VIVARI Coffee & Bakery (Consell de Cent 280) in L’Eixample to discuss the book, then share in our experiences as friends of Dorothy in a new land. 💅
