What we’re about
Welcome to Geekocracy: the best Meetup group for fun events with your fellow geeks and gamers! The goal of this group is to coordinate fun and inclusive social events — like happy hours, game nights, movie premieres, etc. — to get out from behind our TV screens and make new friends. Geek culture is taking over the world and we're going to be in the middle of it! If anyone has recommendations or would like to help with organizing events, reach out to me or one of our event organizers.
GROUP POLICIES (PLEASE READ)
No-shows: The participation of our members is what makes Geekocracy fun, and it’s important for us to have an accurate headcount. Please arrive promptly to events or let the host know if you are delayed. If you do not plan to come, CHANGE YOUR RSVP TO "NO" before the event or contact the host. If you do not, you will be marked "no-show." Repeat offenders will receive a warning and may be removed without further notice.
Behavior: Harassing, annoying, and poor behavior is grounds for removal. Complaints from multiple members may result in removal. Please be respectful of your fellow geeks!
***All events are strictly 18+ unless with a parent or legal guardian***
***Please have a visible picture of yourself when requesting to join***

Book Club: "Carl's Doomsday Scenario" (plus bonus book!)
Joe's New York Diner, 11701 N Florida Ave, Tampa, FL, USWe're continuing "Dungeon Crawler Carl," a darkly humorous Lit-RPG inspired by Dungeons & Dragons with a sci-fi twist. This is for Book 2, feel free to keep on reading (or listening, if you're doing it right) if you enjoy it! If this isn't your jam, we also are reading Carl Hiaasen's humorous standalone novel "Basket Case."
About "Carl's Doomsday Scenario:" A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. As Carl and Donut's popularity increases, so do the challenges.
About "Basket Case:" Once a hotshot investigative reporter, Jack Tagger now bangs out obituaries for a South Florida daily. The infamous front man of Jimmy and the Slut Puppies, dead in a suspicious scuba "accident" may be just the stiff Jack needs to get his byline back on the front page-if only he can figure out what happened. Standing in the way are an editor who wants Jack to "break her cherry," a widow, and the soulless, profit-hungry newspaper owner Jack once publicly humiliated. As Jack follows clues from the music, murder gives his career a new lease on life.
The venue: We are meeting for food at Joe's New York Diner. NOTE: If there's a big waitlist, we will move the location. Stay tuned.
Where to get them: You can borrow ebooks with a library card through Libby. The audiobooks are on Audible. (For Dungeon Crawler Carl you can listen free here but do it with an ad blocker and not on mobile because it is lousy with popups.)12 attendees
