Hey photographers, the next coffee and cameras will be June 14th at 10am at Alice's Family Restaurant.

This month's topic will be photography goals. Either what are subjects or techniques you hope to accomplish/master. Let's get together and share.

Prism shoots are usually free (unless otherwise noted) monthly outings where a location, theme or topic will be our starting point. The idea is to have all the photographers interpret the same theme but according to their own view or aesthetic. We all see things differently and it can be interesting to see which direction each photographer takes the month’s theme or topic. Photos will be shared on the Facebook group so everyone can see.

These outings are a way to help us see things from a different point of view and are led by Beth Tribe, Director of Media. This is a casual, fun, event to help you "see" and hopefully improve your photography.

*Theme will be announced at event.* This event will give you opportunity to capture beautiful lotus blossoms and wildlife including birds so bring your long lenses as well.

Equipment - bring your every day, walk around camera or cellphone. Try to stick with one lens but feel free to bring filters, tripods/monopods or whatever makes you feel creative. Think about traveling light as you will want to explore the location. Some walking will be involved and ground may not always be level. Explore at your own pace.

Whether you prefer jailbirds or real birds, join us as we explore Fort Delaware and Pea Patch Island.

On an island in the middle of the Delaware River, Fort Delaware stands tall as a bastion of U.S. military defense and a reminder of the great sacrifices made during wartime in America. Once a camp for Confederate POWs during the Civil War, Fort Delaware has been maintained and restored to tell the stories of those who served at the fort.

Pea Patch Island is also home to important migratory bird habitat along its marshy shores and draws thousands of people annually to see unique species. Great opportunity to photograph abundant ruins both exterior and interior. Study light and shadows, capture details of aging structure. The surrounding marsh area will provide opportunities to capture wildlife.

Learning Ops/Challenges: Historic building, interiors, exteriors, details. Also, migratory bird habitat and marsh.

Summary:

• Meet no later than 9:30 am, at Fort Delaware State Park ticket booth 45 Clinton St, Delaware City, DE 19706 Street parking available plus there is a parking lot around the corner on Washington St.
• 9:45 catch ferry to the fort.
• 10:00 am - 2:00 pm tour the fort.
• 2:00 pm return to the mainland for lunch at a local restaurant.

EQUIPMENT:

• Camera or cell phone, wide to normal lenses, telephoto for the wildlife images.

ASSIGNMENT:

• Tell the story of the fort. Try to capture images that show what life was like. Make use of good composition. Use light and shadows to add drama to your images. Don’t forget to practice capturing wildlife with your telephoto lenses.

Join HCPG as we explore the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania houses one of the most significant collections of historic railroad artifacts in the world. Devoted to preserving and interpreting the broad impact of railroad development on society, the Museum. Displays 100 locomotives & cars from the mid-19th and 20th centuries, including the priceless Pennsylvania Railroad Historical Collection.

Learning Ops/Challenges: Opportunity to photograph vintage locomotive, rail cars exterior and interiors. Plus close up details shots. Make use of natural light or practice off camera flash to capture textures. Medium and wide angle lenses will be useful.

(The use of flash photography may be prohibited in certain parts of the Museum, such as the Museum’s second-floor art gallery. Signs will alert visitors to where flash photography is not permitted. The Museum reserves the right to limit the use of certain kinds of cameras, flashes, tripods, external lighting devices, or other related equipment inside our locomotives, railroad cars, and exhibits.)

Summary:

• 10:00 am: Meet in front of building
• 10:00 am - 2:00 pm: Tour the railroad museum and surrounding area.
• 2:00 pm: Lunch at a local restaurant.
