About us
This group is all about hiking with dogs! We mostly hike in the Sacramento foothills or high sierra east of Sac. We try to find places where the dogs can be off-leash responsibly. We limit the number of dogs that are allowed to join to keep the energy levels manageable and to make it easier to be off leash. We are not a fast paced hiking group. We take our time, enjoy the view, take pictures, chat and generally have a good time!
We do not allow dogs with prong collars or shock collars to attend our hikes.
We also do not allow dogs that are unaltered. All dogs must be spayed/neutered.
All hikers must clean up after their dog, pack it in-pack it out.

Lake Margaret - 5 mile round trip
Lake Margaret Trailhead, 14e CA-88, Kirkwood, CA 95646, USA, Kirkwood, CA, USThe hike to Lake Margret is only 2.5 miles each way, but there is a fair bit of up and down so I would consider it moderate. This is a scenic hike through various habitats, with streams, marshes, aspen groves and granite rocks to traverse. There used to be log crossings at various points but they have been replaced with bridges! We will start off on-leash, then let them play off leash as open trail permits. The lake is amazingly beautiful. We will picnic when we get there and spend 45 minutes to an hour picnicking, relaxing and exploring the lake area before heading back. If the weather permits, there is an option to swim so bring your suit.
Bring: Water for you, picnic lunch for you and your dog, hat, sunscreen, poop bags, sturdy hiking boots, bug spray.
RSVP - If you are bringing 1 dog, then RSVP for just you. If you are bringing 2 dogs, then RSVP for +1.
I have limited the group to 12 dogs. Please make every effort to attend if you RSVP! If your plans change, please update your RSVP as soon as possible.
