Let's continue our adventure with Dungeon Master Derek's game system inspired by classic Fritz Lieber stories. Will our hapless heroes survive the deadly traps and enemies of Sinking Vault, or will they end up as corpses floating in the murky waters of Tovalyis? Come join us and find out! Derek uses rules from Dungeon Crawl Classics and Swords & Wizardry, games that really capture feel of old school Dungeons & Dragons. If you are curious about classic versions of game (or old enough to remember them, when they weren't yet classic), stop by!

The scary season is upon us, and what better way to celebrate it than with some sessions of Call of Cthulhu ?

First released in 1981, and drawing inspiration from the writings of H.P. Lovecraft*, the game had a different tone and feel than most other roleplaying games of its time. Players took on the roles of ordinary people investigating mysteries in 1920s New England, rather than powerful heroes fighting monsters in a fantasy world. The game encouraged a narrative approach to play and introduced a system for testing character abilities and attributes (including sanity!), innovations that were later picked up by other roleplaying games.

If you are new to Lovecraft and Call of Cthulhu, or if you are seasoned investigator, you are welcome to stop by and play with us. Just don't expect your character to survive!

* Although massively influential on fantasy writing and gaming, H.P. Lovecraft's work contains troubling racist and xenophobic themes. While it is important to understand these themes, from a historical/critical perspective, they will not be part of our group's gaming. Rather, we will do our best to be respectful, inclusive, and fun for all players.
