About us
Our mission is to mobilize the San Diego community toward a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle. We aim to be a source of support, information, encouragement, and action to those pursuing a healthier life through diet.
Through providing local social and educational activities, we create a space for any vegan, vegetarian, or veg-curious person to learn and experience the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle to human health, reduced environmental impact, and avoiding harm to animals.
PlantDiego is a fiscally sponsored project of Social Good Fund, a California nonprofit corporation and registered 501(c)(3) organization.

We schedule events to simply get together to learn, eat, and socialize. Please join this meet up if you want to learn about being part of the team and/or just coming to our fun events! To get in on the discussion, please "like" our page on Facebook, PlantDiego.
PlantDiego plans large community events (like our Gratitude Food Fest just before Thanksgiving) and screenings of documentaries- PlantPure Nation, Cowspiracy, Forks over Knives for example), presentations by local experts, fundraisers, regular PlantDiego fun events (potlucks, meetings, visits to vegan restaurants, picnics, beach days), and community activism to get the word out about healthy plant-based diets.
PlantDiego is part of the national Building Healthy Communities network (by PCRM), inspired in 2015 by the film PlantPure Nation - a ground breaking film and nationwide organization about the power of plant-based eating and the politics we struggle against to get the word out about the dire need to change our food system!
Regular events/potlucks will occur roughly every month. Please bring a Whole Food Plant Based (no animal products, oil or processed products) dish, serving utensils and your own plate, bowl and utensils. Also bring something to drink if you like, as we usually don't provide beverages. Please being at least $1 per event towards meet up fees and other expenses (like our meetup fees!). We also need contributions to keep this organization going! Thanks!
Everyone is welcome here, regardless of race, gender, nationality, sexual orientation or background. Abusive language will not be tolerated. Our gatherings are always respectful of everyone.
**Please visit our website and scroll down to signup to receive our monthly informative newsletter with a listing of our events, a monthly recipe and yep, even a Vegan Dad Joke! Questions? Please e-mail us at plantdiego@gmail.com.**
We are an active group! We hope to see you soon!

Volunteer with piggies at Pebble Ranch Rescue (guests welcome!)
Pebble Ranch Rescue (Piggies!), 12725 Muth Valley Road, Lakeside, CA, USTime for another Pebble Ranch Rescue group volunteer outing! Feel free to invite significant others and friends (please include them in your RSVP) and join us for feeding, sweeping up after, playing with and caring for the adorable potbelly pig residents of PRR.
Be prepared to be met with sweet muddy snouts, wagging curly-cue tails & belly rub requests.
Erin and Andre, the PRR founders, and Tabitha, their volunteer coordinator, are lovely people. One or more of them will be there to let us know which pigs require special care. I'm still recovering from surgery, so I might not be there. If you take pictures while you are at PRR, please post them here for the group. :)
* If you would like to volunteer there instead of or in addition to this volunteer outing, please reach out to the folks at PRR on their website and let them know. You can volunteer for a single shift. It does not need to be an ongoing commitment. *
Back to our group's volunteer outing: Tabitha, the PRR volunteer coordinator, will give us a tour and share what they need help with. It's usually sweeping up after the piggies, feeding and socializing/playing with them. It's been light, easy work in the past, with a lot of fun time with the piggies.
* Please arrive on time so they can open the gate for all of us at the same time and give us instructions and a tour together. This makes it much easier for them, and it gives us more time to socialize with the piggies after feeding them their dinner. *
Please RSVP here (on Meetup) and sign the volunteer application and waiver on PRR's website. It only takes a few minutes to do so.
Also, please let them know you are coming with me on the posted date of our volunteer outing. This is helpful information for them. The date we are volunteering is not posted on their website. It is only for our group. (If you've already volunteered there, you do not need to fill the forms out again.)* I've included information from the PRR website below. They have asked us not to share the sanctuary's address with anyone outside of our volunteer group for safety reasons.
The sanctuary address is
12725 Muth Valley Road
Lakeside, CA 92040* Please note that your GPS and cell service might stop working when you are close to PRR, so it is helpful to look at directions in their entirety before driving over in case this happens.
Please reach out if you have any questions. My mobile number is (619) 822-5592
Thanks for joining us!

***
Pebble Ranch Rescue's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home unwanted, neglected, and abused pot-bellied pigs. Our animals are treated with respect as individuals. They receive the care they need and the kindness they deserve. The animals at Pebble Ranch Rescue are ambassadors and help to educate people about the impact of animal agriculture on our environment. In addition to animal rescue, our mission is to help people transition to a vegan lifestyle to reduce suffering for all. We welcome visitors to come and meet our animals, learn their stories, and understand what amazing creatures they are.
PRR's Story
We named Pebble Ranch after our first pot-bellied pig Pebbles who started it all. He desperately need a home so we took him in. It was an unplanned adoption and one of the best things that ever happened to us. He is such a sweet boy and we became to love him. After we moved to our new location (Pebble Ranch) we dedicated decided that this is a perfect place to provide a safe home for abused, neglected, abandoned, or unwanted animals, especially pot-bellied pigs and named the property after Pebbles.Volunteer information
