Globalizing Ideas

Thanks to our growing community, we can debate big ideas with people all over the world... Simultaneously!!

https://ideas-exchange.info/en/

Join our global community of minds and share with people in different countries and from all backgrounds thorough our weekly online debates. Imagine debating with people in 10 different countries at the same time... How awesome is that?

This is a safe, inclusive and respectful space designed to talk to other humans, learn from one another and implement our ideas, in all relevant aspects of life.

We will discuss both “big” and “small” ideas, talking about the past, present, and future, the ideal world and our everyday reality.

Each Meetup will have a main focus subject, with a wide margin to explore other interesting topics.

Our main rule:

“I do not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”

Some subjects we’ll explore:

Human wellbeing and psychology

Relationships and family

Society, economics and politics

Lifestyles, cultures and languages

Technology and futurism

Philosophy, religions and ideologies

The “why” and “what for” of life

And many more, that we’ll decide on together…

What is education for when the answer is always one prompt away?
Generative AI can explain difficult ideas, solve equations, write essays and code, translate languages, plan research and create images in seconds. Used well, it can give almost anyone a patient tutor, an instant collaborator and access to capabilities that once took years to develop. But it can also turn every assignment into a task to outsource before learning has even begun.
If AI can retrieve facts and produce competent work on demand, should schools still reward memorization and unaided performance? Or does knowledge inside our own minds become more important, because without it we cannot recognize a false answer, ask a good question, make a moral judgment or know when a polished response is not good enough? Is intellectual struggle merely inefficient - or is it how judgment, creativity and independence are formed?
In this discussion, we'll examine AI and learning from educational, cognitive, economic, social and ethical perspectives - and ask not only what students should learn, but what kind of human beings education should help us become.
Key Topics We Will Talk About

    • What is education for: knowledge, skills, judgment, character, credentials or human connection?
    • AI as personal tutor and creative partner - or shortcut and ghostwriter
    • Does cognitive off-loading free our minds for better work, or weaken our ability to think?
    • How much knowledge must we possess before we can question, verify or reject an AI answer?
    • Calculators, search engines and AI: a difference of degree, or a fundamentally new kind of tool?
    • When does AI assistance become cheating, and what should schools actually assess?
    • What should teachers, schools and universities stop teaching, keep teaching and teach more of?
    • Expertise, inequality and work: who thrives when intelligent assistance is available to everyone?

Join us for an open, thoughtful conversation about what remains worth learning when machines can produce the answer - and why becoming educated may matter even when doing the task no longer requires us.
