Let’s go Tottori and visit Sand dunes and hike Daisen! Enjoy Tottori prefecture to the fullest!

The Tottori Sand Dunes (鳥取砂丘, Tottori Sakyu) are large sand dunes located just outside the city center and are Tottori's most famous tourist attraction. They span roughly 16 kilometers of coast along of the Sea of Japan and are up to two kilometers wide and 50 meters high. They are part of the Sanin Kaigan National Park. If you like, you can enjoy camel riding, paragliding or sand boarding!

Mount Daisen (大山, Daisen) is a large, volcanic mountain that rises up from sea level to dominate the terrain of western Tottori Prefecture. Part of Daisen-Oki National Park, the 1729 meter high mountain is the tallest in the Chugoku Region and is included on the list of Japan's 100 famous mountains.

We will fly from Haneda on Saturday morning. On Day 1, we will visit Sand dunes and enjoy some historical areas. We will stay at a place near the mountain so that we can start early next morning. On Day 2, we will enjoy hiking Daisen. After coming back down, will stop a farm to get soft cream and onsen to relax.

We will end the trip around 17:00 on 23rd but feel free to extend your stay as you like.

鳥取砂丘は、市街地のすぐ外れに位置する広大な砂丘で、鳥取で最も有名な観光名所です。日本海沿いの海岸線に約16キロメートルにわたって広がっていて、幅は最大2キロメートル、高さは50メートルに達します。山陰海岸国立公園の一部となっています。興味があればラクダに乗ったりパラグライディングやサンドボーディングも楽しめます。

大山（だいせん）は、鳥取県西部の地形を支配する巨大な火山です。大山・沖国立公園の一部である標高1,729メートルのこの山は、中国地方で最も高く、「日本の名山100選」にも選ばれています。

土曜日の朝に羽田空港から飛行機で出発します。1日目は、砂丘を歩き回ったり、歴史的なスポットを巡ります。翌朝早く出発できるよう、山麓近くの宿泊施設に泊まります。天気が良ければ満点の星空を眺めましょう。2日目は、大山でのハイキングを楽しみます。下山後は、牧場でソフトクリームを味わい、温泉でリラックスします。

イベントは23日の17時ごろ終了ですが、延長したい方はご自由にどうぞ！

Two weeks travel plan to 4 countries in southern Africa: Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia

Date: 28 August - 11 September 2026 (15 days)

Itinerary:
1. Namibia (6-7 days)
Will use local tour operator to visit Sossusvlei (Namib Desert) and Swakopmund.
2. Botswana (4-5 days)
Will use local tour operator to visit Okavango Delta.
3. Zambia and Zimbabwe (3-4 days)
Will travel independently to visit Victoria Falls

• Number of participants limited to 5 people.

About the Hike:
It will be a 2 days 1night trip. We will be staying in a cabin cum cottage (equipped with a kitchen, bath, shower) close to Mokidaira trail head.
Mt Kobushi is one of 100 Famous mountains of Japan.

Difficulty:

• Intermediate
• We will climb via Mokidaira (毛木平ルート) route .
• Hiking distance is 16km, with 1100m ~1400 of elevation gain (depending on the return route
• It will take around 8-10 hours depending on pace and route
• There are some ladders and chains

Rough Schedule:
Day1- October 17

• 09:00 : Depart from Machida Station by car
• 12:00 : Arrive at Guest cabin
  Free time, lunch
• 17:00- 20:30 : BBQ/dinner

Day2 - October 18

• 05:00 Leave cabin
• 05:45~ 16:30 Hiking
• 17:00-18:30 coffee + Onsen
• 21:30 Back to Machida station

Participation fee :
10900 Yen, It includes only following

• Organizing fee (Organizing fee 1000 yen/person/day)

• All transportation cost from/to Machida station (6500Yen)

• 1 night stay (2400yen)

• BBQ

• BBQ or preparing own dinner will be decided later based on weather

• BBQ will cost additional 3500 per person.

• Participation fee doesn't cover things not mentioned above ( for example Insurance, food, bathing etc)
