Japanese Language Study and Conversation Group

日本語を母語とする方、バイリンガルの方、留学生の方、日本語が堪能な方も大歓迎です！このグループは、英語話者と交流したり、新しい友達を作ったり、英会話を練習したり、日本文化を共有したり、日本語学習に興味のある人たちと気軽に日本語で話したりできる楽しい場所です。

Learning Japanese is fun, so this group is all about making it more fun and less intimidating.

This is a casual meetup for anyone interested in Japanese language practice—whether you’re just starting out with hiragana, working through textbooks like Genki, learning kanji, or already speak Japanese and want people to practice with.

There’s no teacher and no formal lessons—just people learning together, helping each other, and staying motivated.

Things we might do:

• Practice conversation and speaking
• Study vocabulary or kanji together
• Use flashcards or quiz each other
• Work through textbooks or homework
• Play language games
• Practice reading or writing
• Share study tips, resources, and favorite apps/tools

Feel free to bring your own books, notebooks, flashcards, or whatever you’re currently using.

You don’t need to be advanced or know much Japanese to join. Beginners are welcome.

For Japanese speakers:
Japanese speakers are also warmly welcome! If you’re a native speaker, heritage speaker, exchange student, or just fluent in Japanese, this can also be a fun place to meet English speakers, make friends, practice English conversation if you’d like, share Japanese culture, or simply chat in Japanese with people who are excited to learn.

The goal is simple: practice Japanese, meet people with similar interests, and have fun while learning.

I created this group out of my own interest in the Japanese Language, culture, etc. Because this is a new group, I will wait a while before our first meeting to give ample time for people to find this group. We will meet in the Richland County, Ohio local area. The meetings will take place on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.

I added the link to my Japanese teacher that I use on italki. If are unable to participate in this group, but still have the desire to learn Japanese, he may be a great option for you!
