The Jefferson Humanists is a chapter of the American Humanist Association.
Our Vision : Free thinkers building a better community
Our Mission: to expand an ethical and life affirming humanist community devoted to science, reason, inclusion and social responsibility. Through community building, lectures, social activism, and discussion we expand our member’s awareness gain an understanding of the issues facing the world and provide learning opportunities through guest speakers on a variety of topics.
In addition to a wide variety of activities (including book discussions, hiking, happy hours and more), join us for our regular monthly meetings, which are held on fourth Sunday evenings at 4pm.
A typical meeting consists of a Keynote Speaker or Special Program followed by an opportunity for questions and answers.
Before the presentation, take some time to browse our free Humanist library, become a member of our Chapter, sign up for our newsletter, explore volunteer opportunities to help us build a stronger chapter, meet new friends, ask questions about Humanism and have some appetizer and wine.

Special Program - Transatlantic Relations in Turbulent Times
Jefferson Unitarian Church, 14350 W 32nd Ave, Golden, CO, USJoin Jefferson Humanists for a special program by Dr. Andrew Denison, Director of Transatlantic Networks, Bonn, Germany
for his presentation, Transatlantic Relations in Turbulent Times.Dr. Denison will discuss the multiple challenges confronting the relationship between the United States and the nations of Europe. These include the war in Ukraine, the Russian threat, the Middle East, China, energy, and artificial intelligence. Dr. Denison will emphasize how European weakness and American unpredictability make all these challenges more difficult.
Dr. Denison is Director of the Transatlantic Networks, a center for foreign policy consulting and education, in Bonn, Germany. Dr. Denison received his Ph.D. from the Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at the Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C., his M.A. from the University of Hamburg, and his B.A. from the University of Wyoming. Andrew Denison grew up in Laramie, Wyoming, and is a bicyclist, backpacker, husband, and father of two sons.

Please note, there will be no death Cafe on Saturday, July 4.This is our monthly Death Cafe meeting, hosted by a JH member. Usually a certified death doula also attends. This is not a grief group. We discuss and share thoughts, questions and concerns around the topic of death. The objective is '"to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'".
There is no set agenda and everyone is welcome to attend and participate, if desired. In the past we have discussed everything from water cremation to relatives bringing unwanted religious personnel to a dying person's bedside. Location: We meet in the Mills Building behind the Jefferson Unitarian Church (JUC), at 14350 W. 32nd Ave, Golden. (Our group has no affiliation with the church.)
