About us
This is a group for those who love OFF ROAD cycling and would like to meet up with other cyclists in a friendly, informal and supportive atmosphere.
We organise regular rides in the Yorkshire area, covering a variety of distances and types of terrain, using traffic free routes as much as possible. Each ride announcement has a general description, plus information on the meeting place, distance to be covered, level of difficulty to be expected, and the types of bike suitable for the terrain.
Members are charged just £1 per event, payable on the day, which goes towards the Meet Up web site administration fees.
Members not taking part in any rides over a long period of time may be removed from the group, but are free to re-join if their circumstances change, subject to approval.
Please note that we are not insured as a group, so each rider is responsible for their own safety. We only have one firm rule, which is:
Helmets are required on all rides, no exceptions. No Helmet = No Ride!

This is a revised (improved) version of a route we haven't done for several years, incorporating some new woodland and other scenic sections.
This ride follows a loop of the TPT (Trans Pennine Trail) network in the Sheffield and Rotherham area, plus other trails. It is a very varied route, including lake and reservoir side, woodland, open land, canal, river, tarmac cycleway and road, with some surprise points of interest along the way.
Food: We will stop for lunch close to the imposing Rotherham Minster, where there are cafes, pubs and a Greggs, or you can bring your own snap if you prefer. As always it's wise to bring emergency snacks and drinks to keep your energy levels up.
There is also a cafe and visitor centre at Rother Valley if you fancy a cuppa (and maybe a slice of cake) towards the end of the ride.

Hambleton Horizon
Sutton Bank Visitor Centre, Sutton Bank, York, GBPlease not that there is a £1 charge per rider, which covers our fees to Meetup.
This is a very scenic and varied ride north from Sutton Bank along the Hambleton Hills on the edge of the North York Moors, with lovely views over the moors and the Vale of York. It is basically a modified and much extended version of the so-called 'Paradise Trails'.
We'll have lunch in the lovely village of Osmotherley before heading back south on quiet narrow lanes below the hills and then back up onto the escarpment for some really good forest trail sections. Finally we reach Sutton Bank for more views of the Vale of York and also Goremire Lake below.
NB: This ride is subject to a reasonably favourable weather forecast, as many sections are quite exposed.
Lunch: There is a cafe and a pub in Osmotherley and also a village shop which sells freshly prepared sandwiches - or you can bring your own snap if you prefer.
