Leicester 20s to 40s

Come head to The Exchange Bar on 50 Rutland St (LE1 1RD) for a relaxed chess meetup, you could know the ins and outs of the Sicilian Dragon or the King's Indian, or maybe you just know how the horsey moves.
This isn’t a serious tournament. It’s all about:
1 . Meeting new people
2. Playing a few casual games
3. Having a drink and a laugh between moves
No pressure, no clocks, no stress, just some good vibes, a few blunders where you didn't see you were staring directly down the barrel of the Queen, and maybe the occasional “I definitely meant to do that” moment.
Who’s it for?

• Total beginners
• Rusty players getting back into it
• Confident players who don’t mind going easy… or showing off a little

The event is hosted by The Exchange Bar so please respect the bar and chess pieces and try to buy something while you're there.
Come solo or bring a friend — either way, you’ll have someone to play.
We’ll grab a table, set up some boards, and let the games unfold.
Worst case? You lose a game.
Best case? You win or at least impress someone across the board

Hey everyone! I'm Phil, and I'm the host of this weekly night 😁
Fancy a fun, relaxed night that isn't just shouting over music and the voices in a bar?

Come join us for some board and card games at The Tree!

This is a relaxed opportunity to join the meetup, whether you're a first timer or a regular, whether you're keen to grab a drink and chat, play some board games, or just meet some new people, come along and say hi and make your face known!

We tend to play easy-to-learn and not too intensive games so you won't be out of your depth and stuck in a loop of trying to learn the rules. But if you're into heavier games, you're not alone as well, and there's no harm in asking!

Come join our WhatsApp community and the subgroups to stay up to date with any events. -Give me a message to join , I will more than likely see messages if you message on the WhatsApp group but feel free to message me on here or there if you're a bit unsure or nervous. I understand sometimes it's not easy to come to these on your own.

Oh if you join and don't have a 07xx number, tell me so no one thinks you're a bot 👌

Some of us bring along games and a few can be borrowed from the pub for the evening if you exchange your ID, but please, if you want to, feel free to bring your favourites too if there's something specific you're itching to play.
