Hello!

Welcome to the seventh meeting of the Page Turners Anonymous book club! We are a super laid back book club focusing on unconventional books (Idk what this means but it sure doesn't mean the normal books you would read at any other book club!). For our seventh meeting we are going to be discussing an absolute treat, The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix. It's the 1980's and a group of housewives start a book club to kill some time. But when mysterious attacks start occurring around their homes, time won't be the only thing they need to kill.

This book is written by my favorite author. If you're a fan of campy nonsense then this is for you. If you love southern accents then please do get the audiobook. I would highly recommend it or any other of Grady Hendrix's books.

I want to emphasize that this is not a very high-stakes book club. What I mean by that is that I do not expect a doctoral thesis about the themes and symbology of the book. I just want you to focus on your favorite characters, scenes, and how you related to the book. This does not mean you can skate on by not reading the book. You are still expected to both contribute to the discussion and socialize with the other members. I think socialization and making friends with each other is the keystone to a good book club more so than the books.

We are going to meet at Trademark Brewing. They have an incredible selection of food and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) provided by a huge variety of restaurants! I will reserve a seat for everyone. Please do try to arrive on time as it would make the discussion easier.

Everyone is welcomed here! All I ask is that you are kind and respectful to others. Again, the foundation to a good book club are its members. So please lets just treat each other like good friends. You may be asked to leave the club if you do not follow these stipulations.

For our eighth meeting we are going to be discussing an amazing historical fiction, Where they Burn Books, They Also Burn People by Marcos Antonio Hernandez. A gripping historical fiction set in the back drop of the Yucatan peninsula during the Spanish conquest. This book delves deep into the evils that can infest a person's heart in the name of their morals and ideals.

If you are even a small fan of historical fiction you will thoroughly enjoy this book. Plus the prose and structure of this book are superb.
