Long Distance Walkers Association - Wiltshire Group

The LDWA is a membership organisation. Walkers may attend up to three walks before they are expected to join.

From the c.p. in South St Wilton we head S towards Salisbury Racecourse and onto Stratford Toney. We'll follow the Ebble Valley upstream to Broad Chalke and over Compton Down. We return to the ancient capital of Wessex via the Roman Road through Grovely Wood. No pub stop so pls remember to bring a packed lunch of water.

The route passes a couple of old castle sites and climbs up onto the downs where I hope we will get a long view.

Will pick up the Avon Valley Path to Homington, then head south to the Great Yews. Next we'll head to Breamore House and woods plus a short detour to the Miz Maze if people would like to see it. Then it's on to Wick Down, Clearbury Ring, then Odstock and back towards the hospital.
Please bring a packed lunch.
There are loos and a cafe - The Pantry Barn - at Breamore House though very busy on a Sunday so suggest bringing sandwiches. No stiles. Well behaved dogs welcome.

Discover the Champagne connection with the Cotswolds; and pass a Queen’s residence and the only church dedicated to a Saxon Saint. Route via Badminton and Didmarton.
