About us

Welcome to Long Island Ladies Having Lunch!

We are pausing new memberships at this time. Thanks to active participation from our current members, events are fully booked.
This pause will be in effect until this notice is changed. Importantly, please be aware that when available, new memberships are considered on a referral and invitation basis only. Please DO NOT SUBMIT A REQUEST TO JOIN without a referral from an existing member.

Long Island Ladies Having Lunch is made up of modern, youthful, intelligent, tasteful women 55 and better. We are a small group of positive, upbeat and optimistic Long Island Ladies. We want to develop lasting friendships with like-minded women.

We are primarily a weekday lunch group, often dining at nicer restaurants. Most events are in western Suffolk County. There will also be early dinners/happy hours, walks as well as other events and activities. Events begin promptly at the posted start time.

You will not be invisible, alone or ignored in a large group. Events are typically limited to 6-8 attendees.

YOU MUST HAVE WEEKDAY, LUNCH TIME AVAILABILITY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO BE CONSIDERED FOR MEMBERSHIP.

You must be willing to open up and discuss why you would be a good fit, make a good friend and group member. Questions must be answered with this in mind to be considered for group membership.

New members get a 30-day trial period. You must participate (sign up and attend events) within this trial period. If we are a good fit, you will be asked to pay a yearly membership fee of $12 (credit card payments). Cash payments are prorated so that your membership will come due on December 31st of each year. This should make it easy for you to know when dues must be paid. Meetup removes members and deletes RSVPs automatically when dues are not paid. If at any point, we are no longer a good fit, membership may be removed. The Organizer does not want to nag or chase you down for your dues payment. Please know when your membership expires and pay your dues on your own.

These are some general housekeeping rules:
* Please be active - sign up and attend events REGULARLY. Let's be honest, you won't make friends if you don't regularly meet, talk with and get to know us! Quarterly or semiannual attendance isn't active participation!
* Please be on time. Events start promptly at the stated time.
* You agree not to talk politics, religion or other polarizing topics.
* Be considerate regarding RSVPing and canceling. A lot of work goes into planning events. Be fair and only RSVP when you are confident you can attend. Please do not RSVP just to "save yourself a space".
*Update your RSVP or Waitlist status as soon as your availability changes. Should there be a waitlist for an event, efforts will be made to have available seats filled in the order in which someone went onto the waitlist.
* It is understood that life happens. We understand that there will be times when a cancellation is required. Please communicate with the organizer and try to limit these.
*Please don't solicit or conduct business at events.
*Make a note in your calendar as to when your dues need to be paid.
*Inactivity may cause group removal.

We will use the traditional 1.3 method for settling our checks. Know & multiply the cost of your order (the subtotal) by 1.3. This covers your entire tab, including tax and tip. You are responsible to know how to do this.

I look forward to having a great time with you! You are going to meet some very nice, caring and considerate ladies. This is going to be fun!

If approved, you are expected to check this group's page regularly. Policies may change.

If you do not agree with or adhere to the above policies, you may rescind your membership or be removed.

I look forward to lunching and having fun together!
