About us
Welcome Readers,
About the Love and Light Book Club: We take a slower approach to reading books. Instead of reading a whole book in a month, we break the book down into several pre-defined selections which allows us to take a deeper dive into the subject and discuss what we have read over several months.
We also read more than one book per month which helps us synthesize different books on similar topics. Primarily, we focus on growth and development books, but we are open to different genres if there is a group interest.
Disclaimer: There is no charge for participants and we do not highlight authors or request any fee to do so. If you recieve an email requesting a fee, please DO NOT engage because it's spam.
Thank you for joining Love and Light Book Club, we are excited to have you❤️

The 5 Love Languages (Self-Love Focused): Chapter 5 Quality Time
·OnlineOnlineJoin us for a unique and empowering session as we flip the script on Gary Chapman’s classic framework. Instead of looking outward, we will focus on The 5 Love Languages: Self-Edition. We will explore how to identify your own primary languages to cultivate a deeper, more compassionate relationship with ourselves. This series of meetings to cover The 5 Love Languages is designed to help you stop waiting for others to fill your "love tank" and start taking agency over your own emotional well-being.
This month we will be reading Chapter 5 (Love Language #2 Quality Time). Keep in mind that anywhere in these chapters that reference marriage or other external relationships, we are refocusing those concepts toward our relationship with ourselves. And, if you miss one or more sessions, you are welcome to join at any point, however I recommend reading the chapters that you missed to get a full understanding of the concepts we are covering.
The book is available for purchase at: Amazon.com: The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts
### Book Summary:
While originally written for couples, The 5 Love Languages provides a perfect blueprint for self-advocacy. By applying Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, and Physical Touch to our own daily routines, we can combat burnout and build self-esteem. We will discuss how "Acts of Service" can mean prepping your meals for a stress-free week, or how "Quality Time" can be a dedicated morning of digital detox.

Nonviolent Communication: Chapters 1 & 2
Location not specified yetIn this series we will be learning about Nonviolent Communication which is a method for communicating in an empathetic and constructive way. The techniques taught by the author, Marshall Rosenberg, allows for peaceful conflict resolution and improved relationships with the other people in your life. Nonviolent communication is a way of talking and listening that focuses on understanding your own underlying needs as well as the needs of others and communicating to build understanding and empathy. Since this is not a communication style that most of us are familiar with, we will include some time to practice nonviolent communication in the group once we have covered the first few chapters and understand the foundation of the techniques. If you miss one or more sessions, you are welcome to join at any point, however I recommend reading the chapters that you missed to get a full understanding of the concepts we are covering.
