Cybersecurity × AI: Berlin's Builders, Breakers & Backers #4

Cybersecurity × AI: Berlin's Builders, Breakers & Backers #4

Wed, Sep 23, 5:00 PM
From Startups.Berlin
4.4

AI has changed both sides of the security equation at once. Attackers are automating reconnaissance, phishing, and exploit development at a scale that didn't exist two years ago. Defenders are shipping agents that triage alerts, patch code, and hunt threats faster than any SOC team could. And an entirely new attack surface — the models themselves — is being built into products before anyone has agreed on how to secure it. Berlin has quietly become one of Europe's densest clusters of people working on exactly this problem: security founders, ML engineers, red teamers, CISOs, researchers, and the investors funding them. This meetup is an attempt to get them in one room. **⚠ Attendance is limited and by application only** To be considered, apply here: [https://luma.com/kxpitonb](https://luma.com/kxpitonb) We're capping this event at **10 people**. The reason is deliberate: we'd rather have a room where everyone present is actually working in this space than a large room where most people are browsing. Smaller rooms mean better conversations and a much higher chance you meet the two or three people who matter for what you're building. The form takes about two minutes. We'll ask for: * Your name and where you work * What you're building, investing in, or researching * Your role (founder / engineer / security lead / investor / researcher / other) * What you're hoping to get out of the evening We review applications on a rolling basis and confirm attendees by email. Applying early genuinely helps — once we're at capacity we close the list. If you're not selected this time, you'll be first in line for the next one. **What to expect** * [2–3 short talks] from founders and practitioners building at the intersection — offensive AI, AI-native defense tooling, securing LLM applications, compliance under the EU AI Act * An open Q&A where hard questions are welcome * Long-form networking **Who we're looking for** Founders (pre-idea to Series B), security engineers and researchers, red teamers, CISOs and security leads, VCs and angels active in the space, and serious people looking to move into it.

# Inside Venture Capital: How VC Funds Work and Decide Who Gets Funded Two investors. Two sides of venture capital. One evening to understand how the money actually moves. No fluff. ## Datum i lokacija * **Sreda, 23. septembar 2026** * **[LVL World of Gaming](https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=c828aacda31190d4&sxsrf=APpeQnvx9kITsqeqOxSES2WM6qd2xuUuuA:1788428569971&q=LVL+World+of+Gaming+-+Berlin&si=APenkKmVGdgpMPDQZoEWS8RIAhsqXAKlNLP0B8DNkkiU9KPI0X--3c4dLBaZW5axno4ufRA0h3UUgCguVhaEOLKDzfTPAWK7CsWzqwiJ3dUxtk2o3WWwFmdrbiNgNrPJ8FRiQaq98DEL&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjJ1_nMj9KWAxXdQvEDHXIHGCQQ_coHegQINBAB)** \- SchĂŒtzenstraße 73\, 10117 Berlin * Lokacija se nalazi odmah kod **Checkpoint Charlie-a** * **Početak: 18:00** ## Predavači i teme Dva predavanja. Dve perspektive. * **Tema: Kako fondovi rizičnog kapitala odlučuju u koga investiraju** Drugim rečima: **Kako VC fond zapravo funkcioniĆĄe?** A kada to razumemo: **Kako VC odlučuje u koji startup će investirati?** ## Program događaja * **18:00 - 18:30** Ulaz i upoznavanje * **18:30 - 18:40** Uvodna reč * **18:40 - 19:00** **Dr. Luka Nićin: Iza kulisa: Kako fondovi rizičnog kapitala zaista funkcioniĆĄu** * **19:00 - 19:15** Pitanja i odgovori * **19:15 - 20:00** UmreĆŸavanje uz hranu i piće * **20:00 - 20:20** **MiloĆĄ Matić: Kako fondovi rizičnog kapitala odlučuju u koga investiraju** * **20:20 - 20:35** Pitanja i odgovori * **20:35 - 20:45** ZavrĆĄna reč * **20:45 - 21:30** DruĆŸenje i umreĆŸavanje * **Od 21:30 Nastavljamo druĆŸenje u baru i restoranu LVL World of Gaming** Na prethodnim okupljanjima smo se oko 21:30 selili u neki od okolnih kafića kako bismo nastavili druĆŸenje. Gradimo, delimo i podrĆŸavamo jedni druge. **Vidimo se u LVL World of Gaming!** *** # ENGLISH VERSION We’re back with the **9th gathering of builders, founders, investors, and tech professionals from the former Yugoslavia (ex-YU)**, organized by [Nemački kutak](https://nemackikutak.com/) and [Serbian Entrepreneurs](https://www.serbianentrepreneurs.com/). The event will be held in **English** and is open to everyone - whether you’re from the region or simply part of the broader startup and tech community. ## Date and Location * **Wednesday, September 23, 2026** * **LVL World of Gaming** \- SchĂŒtzenstraße 73\, 10117 Berlin * Right next to **Checkpoint Charlie** * **Start: 18:00** ## Speakers and topics Two talks. Two perspectives. From understanding how a venture capital fund actually works behind the scenes to the question probably on every founder’s mind when talking to investors: **how does a VC actually decide who gets funded?** ### Dr. Luka Nićin Dr. Luka Nićin is an investor and Head of Bio & Health Technologies at **Pace Ventures**, focused on companies at the intersection of science, healthcare, and technology. In his talk, Luka will open up the black box of a venture capital fund: where the money comes from, how funds are structured, how investors think about risk and returns, and what actually happens behind the scenes before a fund can even invest in a startup. * **Talk: Inside Venture Capital: How VC Funds Really Work** ### MiloĆĄ Matić MiloĆĄ Matić is the founding partner of **Omorika Ventures**, a VC fund investing in pre-seed and seed startups from Serbia and the wider region. Building on Luka’s talk, MiloĆĄ will take us to the next step: what happens when an actual startup lands in front of an investor. How do VCs evaluate an opportunity? What really matters when making an investment decision? How does the internal decision-making process work? And ultimately, what separates a "no" from a decision to invest? * **Talk: How VCs Decie To Write a Term Sheet** In other words: **How does a VC fund actually work?** And once you understand that: **How does a VC decide which startup to invest in?** ## Timetable * **18:00 - 18:30** Entry & networking * **18:30 - 18:40** Opening note * **18:40 - 19:00** **Dr. Luka Nićin: Inside Venture Capital: How VC Funds Really Work** * **19:00 - 19:15 Q&A** * **19:15 - 20:00** Networking with food and drinks * **20:00 - 20:20** **MiloĆĄ Matić: How Venture Capital Funds Decide Who to Invest In** * **20:20 - 20:35** Q&A * **20:35 - 20:45** Closing note * **20:45 - 21:30** Networking * **From 21:30 onwards** We’ll continue at the LVL World of Gaming bar and restaurant At our previous events, we usually wrapped up around 21:30 and moved to a nearby bar to continue the evening. This time, there’s no need to go anywhere - **LVL World of Gaming has its own bar and restaurant**, so after the official part of the event we can simply stay at the venue and keep the conversations going. ### Event Support This event is supported by [LVL World of Gaming](https://lvl.global/), a Berlin venue for arcade games, PC gaming, esports, and various types of events, and [Rubik's Code](https://rubikscode.net/), a learning platform for software development, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics. ## Registration Admission is **free**, but spots are limited. Please confirm your attendance so we can plan the space, food, and drinks accordingly. Let’s keep building, sharing, and supporting each other. **See you at LVL World of Gaming!**
