About us
MakeHaven is a gathering place and workshop for makers, creators, tinkerers and dreamers. The environment supports the development of and collaboration on a wide variety of projects, including: mechanics, electronics, crafts, digital art, biology and woodworking. Through cooperative projects led by MakeHaven members the project and program participants gain a greater understanding of how to create, repair and reuse items. In addition to project-oriented activities the general public will benefit from skill building workshops hosted in the space.

Second Sundays: Monthly Maker Meetup: Glass Bottles to Cups!
MakeHaven, 770 Chapel St, New Haven, CT, USClear out your bottle stash and find some new inspiration! For July’s Second Sunday, we are hosting a community bottle upcycling session. This is the perfect opportunity to learn how to cut and sand glass bottles to transform them into usable cups. Whether you have extra wine bottles, soda bottles, or beer bottles, bring them in to practice your glass crafting skills with your fellow makers.
What to Expect
This is a relaxed, social meetup designed to help members connect and learn a fun upcycling technique. We will have designated stations setup for scoring, splitting, and sanding glass so you can safely turn your empty bottles into custom glassware. The session is highly collaborative, allowing everyone to work together, swap tips, and experiment with different types of bottles.
What to Bring- Empty Glass Bottles: Bring clean, empty wine, soda, or beer bottles that you would like to cut and sand into cups. We will also have plenty so if you don't have one, just bring yourself!
- Snacks to Share: We’ll provide some basic refreshments, but feel free to bring along a favorite treat to share if you are feeling inspired.
Who Should Join
This meetup is open to the public and makers of all stripes. If you enjoy making things and meeting creative people, you belong here! This session is all about sharing tips, finding unique materials, and seeing the amazing variety of work happening in the shop.
