Hey everyone! Cinco De Mayo falls in the middle of the week this year, so let's do our yearly social the weekend after to maybe avoid some of the chaos.
TLDR Notes: We'll meet at Hot Club. Hosts will stay on location for at least an hour before moving. Host(s) will post meeting location at Hot Club in comments. Host(s) will update location as group moves for first two hours of event in the comments as well. No theme in terms of attire, please use best judgement. Please see disclaimer at bottom of post.
We know Hot Club doesn't exactly scream Cinco De Mayo, but let's start there. The host(s) may reach out to some more thematically appropriate spots to see if can stop in, but we're guessing Mexican restaurants with bars may be slammed. Don't worry Hot Club certainly has tequila and can make a solid margarita.
Unless you're new to Providence, you've likely heard of Hot Club. Don't worry it's not a nightclub like the name suggests. The bar is a Providence institution that goes back decades, and it's lasted so long for a reason. Hot Club offers a pretty laid back vibe even when it's packed. The outdoor deck provides plenty of space to enjoy some drinks by Providence River and there's indoor space if the weather isn't the best. Hot Club also closes it's parking lot for additional seating, so we shouldn't have any trouble finding a spot. It's the perfect bar for Spring/Summer, but it may be a little chilly by the river once the sun goes down.
Hot Club can make pretty much any drink you want and sports three bars so waits are never bad even when it's busy. If you want something particular or a little more niche, the larger indoor bar is your best bet. Hot Club may not be able to make super crafty cocktails, but I've been surprised by what the bartenders can make despite the bars somewhat divey vibe. The smaller indoor bar and the deck bar can also make a considerable amount of drinks, but there selection is a bit smaller. All the bars have beer, wine, ciders, and seltzers as well.
Hot Club also has food, we'll post the link below if you want to take a look. We can't guarantee other spots we check out have food or if we'll stay long enough.
We'll stick around Hot Club for awhile just to give people time to find parking or to give a little wiggle room for late comers. It may be roughly an hour or so. Once we move the host(s) will keep the location updated in the comments, but we recommend joining us at the first stop if possible.
After Hot Club the world is our oyster. There are spots a short walk away, and the pedestrian bridge makes it easier to head downtown. The host(s) will figure everything out on the day. If you have a request please let them know, if possible we will try to accommodate.
There is no theme with attire like wearing green for St. Patricks' Day (not that we ever require it), but if you do decide to wear themed attire please use your best judgement. Please make sure anything you wear won't have you turned away by a bar, or anything that may be offensive.
Just a little house keeping/less fun stuff. This is not a pub crawl. Stops will be not timed and we won't have a rigid list of bars to visit like you see on formal crawls. This is just a themed event and we see where the night takes us. We strongly recommend using a ride share/taxi or planning a ride in advance. Please drink responsibly.
By RSVPing to this event, you are agreeing that neither the event's host(s) nor the 20s & 30s Life After College group are responsible for any injuries/damages that may occur. Members are responsible for their own behavior.
We're lucky who have great members and never have any issues. However, please don't hesitate to speak with a host privately if needed.
Ok now that the less fun stuff is out of the way. We hope to see everyone there! Please reach out to the hosts directly or leave a comment if you have any questions.
Happy Cinco De Mayo!!
