Trek Across Maine

Join the American Lung Association for the 43rd Annual Trek Across Maine, Northern New England’s premier fundraising cycling event. Choose the traditional three-day, 180-mile ride, our one-day gravel ride, or participate virtually from anywhere.
The Trek begins and ends at beautiful Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, featuring rolling farmland, wooded landscapes, and stunning Maine scenery. Along the route, cyclists travel through central Maine, including the iconic town of Freeport, while enjoying views of wild lupines, lakes, rivers, and picturesque countryside.
Riders on the traditional Trek spend overnight stops at Bates College in Lewiston and Saint Joseph’s College in Standish, where participants can enjoy meals, entertainment, activities, and camaraderie after each day’s ride. The event includes route support from volunteers, local and state law enforcement, support vehicles, and three daily rest stops stocked with refreshments.

Route Options
Three-Day Trek
Day 1: Pineland Farms (New Gloucester) to Bates College (Lewiston) – approximately 60 miles
Day 2: Bates College to Saint Joseph’s College (Standish) – approximately 60 miles
Day 3: Saint Joseph’s College to Pineland Farms – approximately 60 miles
One-Day Gravel Ride
Sunday, June 20, 2027
Experience Maine’s scenic backroads and gravel terrain on our one-day gravel ride. Riders can choose between a 25-mile or 50-mile route, offering a unique adventure gravel roads (60% gravel). Both route options being/return to Pineland Farms, where gravel riders will join participants completing the three-day Trek for the finish line celebration and festivities.
Route mileage may vary due to local and state construction projects and final route planning.

Virtual Trek Option
Can't make it to Maine? Participate virtually and ride where and when it works for you. Complete your chosen mileage challenge by June 30, 2027, and meet your fundraising minimum to earn a commemorative Trek t-shirt and medal.

Registration & Fundraising

• Registration Fee: $50 (non-refundable and non-transferable)
• Three-Day Ride Fundraising Minimum:
• $550 per adult
• $400 for ages 7-17
• One-Day Gravel Ride Fundraising Minimum:
• $100
• Virtual Fundraising Minimum:
• $250 per participant

Fundraising requirements must be met before participating in the ride. Virtual participants must submit fundraising by June 30, 2027, to receive commemorative incentives.

Volunteers Needed
The Trek Across Maine relies on hundreds of volunteers to support cyclists throughout the event. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available.

Age Requirements
Participants must be 7 years of age or older. Children ages 7-12 must ride a tandem or tag-a-long bicycle with an adult guardian. All participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult guardian, and both rider and guardian must meet fundraising requirements.
