What we’re about
Hello all!
My name is Jon and I am an experienced and trained hiking leader, nature and wildlife lover who knows more about birds than about himself.
I have recently decided to stretch my wings and to create this group to meet others who are as passionate as I am about the wildlife or would like to learn about it and what a country we live in!
With the world's largest Grey seals colonies, to gannets, puffins and even a walrus and an albatross on the coast to red and black grouses, owls of all sorts , eagles and millions of migrating and wintering birds who travel to and through our island every year, we will have a lot of animals to find and snap.
My trips are open to everyone, from wildlife fanatics to people who would like to discover a bit more about our beloved prettier neighbours.
I will not rush you, we are there to enjoy every minute and even if some trips can be more strenuous than others, we will take the time that you need, you will be able to take photos and videos or just have a breath of fresh air.
I promise laughter, smiles, food orgies and some drinks for those who like a glass of wine or fruit juice alike.
If you want to connect with wonderful people and spend days and weekend trips walking in a nature reserve with other birders or joining a last minute trip to try and find one of the rarities who visit those lands join me on my trails.
There is a lot to see and do and you will have a wonderful time and will fill your head with souvenirs of our giggles and journeys.
See you soon!
Jon

Oare Marshes nature reserve, hike and birds: burn your Christmas meal!
London Bridge, London, GBLet's take a walk along the Swale in one of those beautiful coastal towns where the river end its course into the sea, the colourful Faversham!
Faversham is a beautiful little town in the Eastern part of England. There has been a settlement at Faversham since pre-Roman times, next to the ancient sea port on Faversham Creek. It was inhabited by the Saxons and mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Favreshant.
We will walk through the cobalt streets and make our way to Oare Marshes, a beautiful area where swamps, rivers and ponds attract a multitude of migrating and over wintering birds and will walk along the Swale and the sea until we get tired.
Waders and rare birds of all kind from greenshanks, little ringed plovers or short eared owls or hen harriers spend the winter in this marvel of nature as this is a major migrating route, bearded tits, long eared owls or barn owls live there during the whole year as well as spoinbills or avocettes.
We will stop whenever we find birds and observe and photograph them when we can.
Of course we will end this trip with food or drinks at one of the many restaurants in Faversham, unless you prefer to get back on the train directly. We are there to have a good time and enjoy nature and architecture.

NEW TRAIL: Surrey's Heath and magical woods, Waverley Abbey& Farnham circular
London Waterloo Station (WAT), Meet under the clock by Pret,, London, GBTime to get on tracks and get on an hour train journey to those gorgeous woods not too far from London near Farnham and Waverley.
This is a HIKE and as always on my trip, we will be looking out for birds, the area is good for woodland birds such as crossbills, woodpeckers or Dartford warblers so keep an eye pealed.
This is going to be a proper forestry hike just as we like them.
Forest lovers, cinema and tv series fans, be aware...
Filming location for blockbuster movies such as Robin Hood Prince of thieves, 3 Harry Potter movies, Thor, The Avengers, and another 40 more and counting or series such as the Witcher, these millennial forests such as Bourne Woods are simply a jewel of nature in the Southern part of England.
If you like a walk in the woods, this is the one you want to join as we will be in the middle of the forest or the heath for most of the trip.
The hike will be average, a few ups and downs but nothing too strenuous, it is about 10miles but I can make it longer if you wish as there are acres and acres of woods, if you wish we can even push to the ruins of Waverley Abbey before we make our way back to the station, our minds cleared by the fresh air of these magical woods.
As always, we can grab a drink or some food afterwards, we are here to socialise in the nature after all and enjoy ourselves fully on a day out...
