What weβre about
Want to meet meet new people in a friendly and welcoming environment? Want to be more social but feel anxious about going out alone? Maybe you are new to Melbourne? Then this is the group for you!
Why I started this group
Two years ago I remember going to my first Meetup and feeling terrified. I had just come out of a break up and several lockdowns and really wanted to make new friends. But the thought of going out alone and socialising had me breaking out in a cold sweat π₯! Fast forward to today, and I have met some amazing people, made some real, meaningful friendships and have had the best two years of my life. With this group I hope that I can pay-it-forward and provide this experience for other people.
What type of events?
Mostly evening events at bars and pubs around the city and inner city with some outdoor and daytime events when weather permits . Most events will be free, but some may be ticketed, so please read the instructions on the events pages. Age range is 25 - 55 with the average age around the mid-30s.
Some simple rules
- We are a friendly, welcoming, and above all, safe group and we want to make sure it stays that way. Any behaviour that is deemed to be rude, aggressive or not in the spirit of this group will see you swiftly ejected.
- If you have RSVP'd to an event but then you can't make it, no worries. No need to message us. BUT please DO change your RSVP status to 'Not Attending' so that if there is a Waiting List someone else can take your place.
- We are happy to receive your Meetup Messages if you want to ask questions or have any feedback about an event or the group. But please don't DM people that you haven't met. It's creepy and annoying. And this isn't a dating app. Besides, the whole point of Meetup is to go out and meet people, right?
- Please be aware that photos taken at our events may be used on the Meetup app or other Social Media pages. It is your responsibility to ensure the safety of any belongings that you bring to our events and any damage or loss is not the responsibility of either the Event Organiser or the Venue. By attending our events you agree to these conditions.

π Coffee Mingle in Fitzroy Gardens βοΈπ§π₯€ποΈ
Kere Kere Green, Fitzroy Gardens Visitors Centre, 230 Wellington Parade, East Melbourne VIC, AUWant to meet new people in an inclusive and welcoming space? π€
Letβs make the most of the sunnier days and gather for an afternoon coffee in Fitzroy Gardens. πΈ
We will gather just outside the Kere Kere Green Cafe & Visitors Centre in large grassy area (to the left of the building when you are facing the entrance). You can go inside the cafe any time before or during the event to purchase a coffee and/or some yummy snacks. Please feel free to bring a picnic blanket if you prefer to sit down, but I find that standing allows you a bit more freedom to move around and mingle.
And mingle we shall!
This is a great opportunity to socialise with other attendees who all there for the same reason as you: to have conversations and meet new people! If it's your first time and you're a bit shy, feel free to find me (Annette) and say hello and I will help you on your way. π€
If it happens to be a bit rainy or drizzly we can use the sheltered section in front of the cafe entrance. Please note that in the event of extreme weather (eg. lots of rain, strong winds) this event will be postponed, so please check for any updates (in the comments section of the event page) prior to the event.
Location & Directions: We will be located in the grassy area left of the Kere Kere Green Cafe & Visitors Centre, under the large tree. If you haven't been to this event before, its best to use the map provided on this page (click on it to open in your apps) to find the location. Otherwise you can manually type 'KereKere Green' into your Google maps. The other landmark to look out for is 'Cook's Cottage' which you can see in the background of the photo I have uploaded.
Parking advice: There is metered parking on the surrounding streets but hard to find a free spot on weekends. You can try your luck getting a 2hr free spot on the streets coming off Clarendon St. But, I would highly recommend catching a tram there rather than driving.
See you all there!
