We have some exciting news! As part of our move into the MoTaverse, the Ministry of Testing Cambridge group is officially migrating away from Meetup.
Going forward, we are now known as a Chapter, and we have a brand-new home where all our future events, photos, and talks will live.

Device automation is one of those journeys that looks obvious in hindsight — but feels anything but straightforward when you're in the middle of it.In this session, Shiva Shimoga will share the journey from “Where do we even start?” to a fully scaled device automation ecosystem that supported rapid company growth across multiple platforms.
Drawing on real-world experience, Shiva will explore how the team:
- Used a data-based compliance matrix and basic testing principles to identify where automation could deliver the most value.
- Discovered and demonstrated ROI to build support for automation.
- Tackled unstable and unreliable tests.
- Developed a framework that worked across multiple generations of ASIC and FPGA.
- Scaled automation from the initial setup to dozens of test rigs.
- Most importantly, won over the sceptics and turned automation into a trusted engineering practice.
This is a story about much more than automation frameworks and test rigs. It's about how to take an ambiguous, high-friction engineering challenge, build the right strategy, demonstrate value, and scale it successfully.

## Speaker Bio
Shiva Shimoga is a results-driven Product Owner and Product Manager with over 20 years of experience spanning the full software development lifecycle.
Currently a Product Owner at Sepura, Shiva spent nearly 12 years at DisplayLink, where he progressed from Principal Automation Lead to Principal Automation Engineer and ultimately Product Owner for Incubation and Wireless.
During this time, Shiva built device automation frameworks from the ground up — recruiting and growing teams, establishing testing strategies and scaling automation to support rapid company growth across multiple platforms.
His expertise spans product management, test automation and Agile project management, with a track record of turning ambiguous, high-friction automation challenges into scaled, trusted engineering practices.2 attendees
