About us

Welcome to Mixers & Minglers Western & NW Suburbs!

Ready to make new friends and have some fun?
We're a warm, welcoming community of adults primarily in their 40s-60s who love getting out, trying new things, and building genuine friendships! Whether you're single, married, new to the area, or just looking to expand your social circle, you'll find your place here.

What We Love to Do Together Our members enjoy an amazing variety of activities! From happy hours and wine tastings to comedy shows and live music, we keep things exciting. You'll find us at trivia nights, bowling alleys, golf courses, and paint-and-sip studios. We love our Sunday Fundays, Bears viewing parties, and seasonal adventures like water tubing in summer and cozy brunches in winter. Plus, we organize special outings to Cubs games, Ravinia concerts, and even pontoon trips to Wisconsin!

Where You'll Find Us Most of our events take place within the Rosemont, Geneva/Elgin, Schaumburg, Naperville, and Oak Brook area, with occasional adventures to downtown Chicago, Wisconsin, and the northern suburbs for those special experiences.

Our Community Values We're built on friendship, kindness, and respect. To keep everyone safe and ensure great experiences for all:

  • Safety First: Members connect only after meeting in person at our events - this isn't a dating app, and we take everyone's comfort seriously
  • Be Reliable: Please update your RSVP if plans change, as venues often require headcounts and deposits
  • Respect Our Hosts: Many locations accommodate us with separate checks - let's show appreciation for their extra effort
  • Keep It Social: We're here for friendship and fun, not business networking

Getting Started is Easy! To join us, you'll need a clear, recent photo so we can spot you at events, and please use your real first name. Feeling nervous about your first event? Just let the host know - we'll make sure you feel extra welcome!

First Time Jitters? We've Got You! We know walking into your first meetup can feel intimidating, but our members are genuinely friendly and always happy to include newcomers. Many of our closest friendships started with someone taking that brave first step to join us.

Ready to start your adventure with some amazing new friends? We can't wait to meet you!

ANNUAL THIRD OF JULY PARTY WITH SIXTEEN CANDLES, DRONES & FIREWORKS

ANNUAL THIRD OF JULY PARTY WITH SIXTEEN CANDLES, DRONES & FIREWORKS

Sports Core Soccer Fields, 700 Oak Brook Rd, Oak Brook, IL, US

Come join us for our annual event!

FEATURING SIXTEEN CANDLES, DRONES & FIREWORKS!

You know the drill. Join me for our Annual 4th of July party!
This is our third year holding this event here and usually draws in a large group. Always a good time!

The Taste of Oak Brook is proud to welcome the community back to the Village Sports Core Fields to celebrate Independence Day with local food and beverages, live entertainment and of course, our dazzling fireworks show!

Event Schedule:
Whiskey Friends: The Morgan Wallen Experience 4:00p- 6:00pm
DJ /Village Presentations 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Sixteen Candles 7:30pm - 9:00pm
Drone Show 9:30pm
Fireworks following the drone show!
No cost for admission.

Please read entire Event description including parking fees.

Please bring your lawn chair, sunscreen, blanket, tarp and cooler. The more tarps/blankets we have the better chance we will have the space for our group. Last year we had 100+ here.
Not finding anything about bringing alcohol in, but will assume that it isn't allowed. No one checked coolers last year but not sure if that will change this year.
Personal tents or canopies aren't allowed this year.

## Food and Beverages

Come and enjoy a wide variety of gastronomic delicacies from some of Oak Brook’s favorite restaurants. Stop by Alter Brewing + Kitchen’s expanded beer garden for a cold beverage and relax in the generous seating area while taking in the live entertainment on the Flood Brothers main stage.

I will be there at 4:30. We will be in the same spot as previous years. Gwen will be there at 4 and I will forward pics of location of where we will be once she arrives.
You will need to follow pictures and comments made by me or Gwen for location of our group.

Come whenever you want. However, the more who come earlier the easier it will be to carve out a larger space for our group and greater chance you can sit with or near our group.

Per usual, I will post in pics and comment where I am at once I arrive as well.
I will have a green beaded light up necklace on as well as a bike flag on and a balloon on my chair. Please look for the picture and comments in order to find us. Do NOT put anywhere in comments of where you are. It only confuses people.

Parking
If want to car pool with others in order to split parking cost, please feel free to do so. A bunch of us last year met at the parking lot outside of the Oak Brook Mall's Macy's lot closest to 22nd street. No issues leaving our cars there for the day/night.
Feel free to reach out to others in comments section of this event if interested in car pooling. I will not be organizing that part.
It goes without saying, the cheaper the parking is, the furthest it is away from event location. I car pooled with three others and we split the $50 cost for VIP parking. Brought in my own dinner, snacks and drinks so the whole day cost me under $13. A good deal seeing there are two really good bands and Fireworks!
