About us

Welcome to the Northern Burbs active adults! We are a group who love to laugh, mingle, explore and support our community. We are a mixture of single and married adults who just want to have fun and enjoy ourselves in the company of like-minded folks. We are mostly over 40 but we are young at heart. Our activities are mostly in the North Denver (Thornton, Northglenn, Broomfield, Lafayette, Louisville and Arvada) area although we have been known to catch a taco/margarita crawl, chalk festival, concert or Rockies game downtown. We get together weekly to support our local businesses and community establishments while building a tribe of friends. Do you like to explore local festivals, eat at new restaurants, listen to music and laugh ALOT? How about cheering on our local sports team, watching a talent show, or volunteering in our community? Want to see a movie or sporting event? Join us!

One of my favorite escapes in Colorado has it all — car camping, glamping, RV camping, tent camping, or even a lodge stay. The Great Sand Dunes Recreation area is truly a hidden gem, and one of my absolute favorite places to unplug, explore, and have fun.

Just minutes from the Great Sand Dunes, yet a world away from reality, this campground offers something for everyone. There are 10 RV sites with water and electric, gravel tent sites that can easily be shared with a car camper like me, dry dock RV sites, and more remote tent sites for those wanting a quieter experience. Not into camping? No problem. There are also 3 cozy glamping cabins and a 10-guest cabin available.

And the best part? This place is home to a one-of-a-kind tropical escape that will absolutely blow you away. Imagine 10,000 square feet of lush plants, four soaking pools ranging from 98 to 111 degrees, indoor and outdoor patio space, and a dry sauna — all in an adults-only paradise. There is even a restaurant, The Steel Box Bar with a wide selection of beer and wine, and an upscale small plates menu.
I’m planning to head down on Thursday, with a stop in Buena Vista along the way.

Between wonderful hikes, ranger talks, waterfalls, and of course the dunes themselves, there is so much to enjoy. And honestly, if you have never rented a sled and flown down the sand dunes, you have to put that on your life list. It is equal parts thrilling, hilarious, and exfoliating.

I have secured T1, my favorite site, and I can host a tent if someone would like to share. There are also several spots available right next to me. You will need to make your own reservation, but we can carpool, share cooking, firewood, and enjoy the adventure together.

If you are new to camping, this is a wonderful opportunity to jump in and give it a try in a fun, supportive group setting.
